But really guys all you need are ported D port iron heads and shift at 5500

Nice work tried to keep it as apples to apples as possible.

Race engines should have shaft rockers. The other major difference between the two configurations are offset lifters required on E-wides vs no offset. The other difference was the E-heads happen to have Titianium valves, but the valve weight of the CV-1 in stainless wont make much difference at the RPMs at 7000.

Maybe one 500#s lighter and 30 more inches bigger.

But that hasn't happened yet....

Agreed....only been down about a month after exploding a lifter..
Can't wait to get back out & get license.
That was a lot of time & work on test..aside from a few questions it was a back to back comparison..thanks for sharing..
I like my Tiger's but I know there are other choices....a good thing..

FWIW:My 505 with as cast "race" Tigers made 843HP & 709TQ... This was done after about 150 passes as I had a pesky problem..It has no "trick" parts other than being a Gaydosh creation.. It does have 14.5 CR & dual quads on gas. Not intending it to be a apples to apples but just thought I'd throw it out here as a comparison..Heads were $4,200.00

In my book.....buy what ya want...Lets race...

I think it was a very fair comparison, dollar for dollar and component for component.
And... don't forget the SD CNC HP's for $3500. Mine just ran 8.69@ 159 N/A. Harland Sharp rockers and stud girdle, shifting at 7200. (with break in oil) LOL.
Nice to see this comparison. Once the CV1 has some seat time, I think it will run. I remember the 'Fulper Wars' back in the day, E-heads are crap! Ported 670's will out run them! LOL.

No. If you were around at that time you would remember that Fulper was pushing E-heads for Street and strip. Many top Pontiac people were saying that the E-head was Strip only! WAAY TOO BIG for a street car. Hate to say it but.... Bruce was right. The E-heads were better than sliced bread. We now have Tiger and HP street heads! OHY VEY! (LOL).

Good to see the cv-1 numbers on this size short block.

Were the heads the first casting?

Which intake was used?

Thanks for doing this test. Will you do a swap test in the car at the track as well?

Looks like a nice dyno test between a old style "Wide Port" E-Head and the CV-1 stuff.

Really need a lot more info on the engines, calibrations, etc but if you call it a "Street Race on the Dyno" then CV-1 heads took this one.

Obvious that MJM's CV-1 heads made more power (with a Magic Man port job) so I would say that the deal is just another bit of dyno data to discuss on the forums.

Looking forward to seeing some racing at Norwalk with Mike L against the CV-1 crowd.
