WTB: 69 Grand Prix complete posi rear
Looking for a complete posi rear for a 1969 Grand Prix. Prefer higher ratios like 3.08 or 3.23.
A little background if you are interested: I just inherited my Dad's unfinished 1969 GP when he passed away recently. It's a pretty cool car - PHS documented 428HO 4 speed. Almost done, but not quite there yet, and not currently running. But not sure what he was thinking with the rear end. It appears to be an earlier piece (1965?) and my brother thinks he put 3.90 gears in it, which I would not prefer. I need to crack it open and take a look, but in the meantime, I thought I would see if someone had a more correct one. If so, I would just swap it out and sell the current one. Thanks! |

I always liked finding GPs with limited slip units. While the A-bodies with 3.08 and 3.23 10-bolt limited slips were 2-pinion limited slip units, the GP came with 4-pinion units. GP rears are easy to identify, the 69s had a flat spot on the top (for the exhaust maybe?). Anyway, they are good rear ends.
If your 4-spd had a/c, it should have come with a 3.23 limited slip. I junked a 69 SJ 4-spd out many years ago, still have the block and might have the rear end. I'll check next time I'm at my storage location. Mike |

WOW... that's a cool GP! Would be interested in seeing the PHS invoice to add to my personal registry. Also, we could determine which rear it came with originally if you'd like to keep the car correct.

Very cool car! What colors and options are on the car. I love these cars and I too have a 428 HO 4speed!

Bumping this back up, as I am still looking.
I pulled the rear our of the car today and it appears to be a 1965 GTO rear housing and it has 3.90 gears. Before I start going through this one, I wanted to see if anyone has a correct 69 GP one (prefer 3.55 which is what I think came with the car) |
