Default Gauge cluster

I have Stewart Warner green lines to go under the dash. They are 2 1/16 size. There is an volt, oil, water, and antique motor minder vacuum gauge set that I have. My problem is apparently Stewart Warner decided it would be funny to make the gauge housings 2 1/17 cause they are just slightly bigger than the opening. I am married to the gauge holder because 1 have you ever tried to find a 4 gauge cluster and 2 it’s engine turned to match the dash. I tried using a brake cylinder hone but the pos wore the stones out and only made the situation slightly better for one gauge. Anyone have an idea on how to ever so slightly enlarge these holes?

Carefully work them with a large half-round file.

Shouldn’t be too difficult, take your time being careful not to pull the file out and scratch the face of the panel.

Can you not open them up a little bit with a Dremel and a sanding drum? I'd also be inclined to think that the gauges are likely the correct size and the gauge panel is the culprit.

My 3 gauge under dash bezel is an aluminum casting. You didn't say if this was sheet metal , a casting, or something else. A casting like mine, I would probably fly cut in a mill. A sheet metal one, I would file as mentioned or carefully open with a sanding drum on a Dremel tool as mentioned. Love the Green line gauges. The retro ones they are still selling are very expensive. I just can't make the $450.00 jump for 3 gauges. But they look great.

It’s a sheet metal panel. I will take a picture tomorrow. I tried a brake cylinder hone and it threw one of the stones before I even got started good. I guess I will just take an hour and hand file each hole. Trying to keep as perfect an appearance as possible.

I'd think the outer bezel of the gauges would conceal any minor imperfections from enlarging the openings in the gauge panel, yeah?

Yeah it’s just gonna be a pain in the ass. I got so much to do I don’t really wanna waste and hour filing this thing but I think I’m gonna have to

OK, sheet metal panel, limited time to get it done. IMO, a a small sanding drum and a Dremel tool could do 4 holes in 15-20 minutes and it would look good. As mentioned, the outer chrome bezel will conceal minor imperfections. That's what I would do.
