Default Aftermarket Hood hinges?

Has anyone tried any of the aftermarket hood hinges? Ive heard conflicting feedback but no mention of brands. Ames seems proud of the ones they are offering but have never heard of anyone using them.

I put the ones from Ames on my 68. They were fine. Will the purist like them.. Not sure but function was correct and smooth.

My brother's 68 LeMans: Hood would not stay up with the NEW hinges.

So I put bead/sand blasted old hinges on, & we're both happy.

Been running a set of Ames repros for about 6 years now. No problems at all.

I dunno. My brother's paint shop bought them. Then he bought blasted GM hinges to replace the new junk,. I just did all the work to make it right.

you can also send your original hinges to these guys and have them rebuilt with new rivets and powder coating is also an option.

I have Ames hinges on my car from when they first came out years ago and they work great, however all the ones I've bought in the last two years for customers cars would not hold the hood up at all. They are having unresolved problems with the hinges that they
are selling right now. I suggest having your originals redone.

Default ebay

Sellers name is shycityauto. Search his name in ebay. He has sold hundreds of hood hinges. He rebuilds original ones and sell them. I think he has sold close to 400 hinges on all kinds of cars and not one bad feed back. I bought mine for my 68 GTO and they are as good as NOS. I think he sells them for around 150 dollars. .Not sure but he might even rebuild your if you send them to him.
