Austin (or San Antonio) area media blasting or similar
Anyone know of a good local to me shop that does media blasting or something similar to remove rust (i.e. acid dip)?
The guy I am taking my Firebird to asked me to ask on here just in case, he said the only place he has used that is good and still in business is in Liberty Hills. He said there used to be a great place in Dallas that did blastig and dipping but they went out of business. Thanks

Have you talked with Commercial Services of Austin?? Up off Howard Lane (N-I35 and west of I35). They offer plastic media and then some other coarser media blasting services. I would be SUPER careful if you are considering stripping body panels by any of those methods.....Firebirds have some fairly smooth, "flattish" panels and they can probably be warped fairly easily by an overzealous/inexperienced blaster.
Talk to Reagan Norton if you call or visit them. Nobody around here does any dipping/chemical stripping. Yes, that was probably Metal Rehab Services (southside of Fort Worth) the guy was referring to. Great chemical stripping/dipping place but their prices must have been too low as they closed up over a year ago.

Yea my metal guy was telling me the same thing about warped panels, he wanted to do a less aggressive media to just remove the paint and expose bondo/rust and cut it all out instead of getting down completely to bare metal. I live not to far from there, might drop by.
