Default '64 GTO Hardtop Side Window Adjustment

I have spent quite a lot of time lining up the quarter and door windows after installing the vent window frame in my wife's '64 hardtop. I posted some questions in the '64/'65 Tech forum, but so far, have not gotten an answer.

First--How much overlap should there be between the vertical weatherstrip on the quarter window glass and the door window? Should the door window extend beyond the edge of the rubber that creates the seal, or should it be part way over the rubber? Mine seals fine as checked by a paper strip slammed between the windows, but only covers about 1/2 of the rubber edge.

Second--How tight should the vent window frame be with the weatherstrip along the windshield pillar? Mine fits close enough to capture the paper strip firmly, but does not contact the outermost lip of the weatherstrip--it seals on the inner edge.

Last question---If the positions shown on my pictures and described a above aren't correct, how do I correct them?

I could fix the gap problem between the door glass and the quarter glass if there was a way to move the quarter glass forward about 1/8". My adjustments on the quarter glass tracks are all the way forward, however.

Red face window seal

How about:.............does it seal when you wash the car? Can either window be raised/lowered smoothly without much effort?

Since the posting above, I've spent more than a week getting the windows adjusted as closely as possible. I've tried strips of paper in every area between the windows and the weatherstrip.

After A LOT of effort and frustration, I'm finally satisfied with the side windows. Now, onto the interior panels, headliner, visors, rear view mirror, dash disassembly for painting and cleanup. Slow but sure, it's going together.

We need to be ready for Pontiac, IL in September!!!
