Default Norwalk 2018!

Wife and I have decided to take a week this year and take in the Pontiac race in Norwalk as spectators to get a feel for bringing a car in 2019. We reserved a room at the Hampton so the sleeping accommodations are taken care of and my question is when is the earliest date they would let us in at the track to visit folks I know from the board?

Anything else to do in the area during that time frame?

If you want to visit, Linder's lot on Thursday morning would be a great place to start! If you have the means to stay at the track, just go ahead and bring the car. Depending on how early you're talking about, the track has their regular test n tune/bracket race on Wednesday night. There might be a few Pontiac people there too!

Cedar Point for roller coasters etc is tough to beat. Also plenty of scenic things along lake Erie. Places to shop close by and even a $$$ resort hotel.

Don't miss the non race side. You can easily use up a day or more just going through the swap meet car show side.

If you just spectating and not racing they won't let you into the track on Thursday. I had friends show up on Thursday one year with their motorhome and had to spend the night in Linder's lot by themselves. Kelly's island is more family friendly than Put-In-Bay if your into checking out the Lake Erie islands.

They should of just said they need a parking permit to park with you, my neighbour of mine used to do that, now he just pays the 70.00 like he is racing and gets in on Thursday on the pit side .

I think there are maybe 10 people on PY that enjoy other types of racing other than drag racing. If you happen to be one of those 10, there are 2 dirt tracks within 30-60 minutes of Norwalk that race on Saturday nights. Ohio has some of the best sprint car racing in the nation. 410, 305 winged sprints, along with late model stock cars and the street stocks, or dirt trucks.

Saturday, Aug. 4
Finish Line Fuels Night
Finish Line Fuels Night; FAST 410 sprints; 305 sprints; trucks; late models; Family Fun Night – special family admission/food packages.

Fremont Speedway is about 30 minutes west of Norwalk.

Sat. August 4th

Fast Four Racing Program - Kids Night
Sprints, Super Lates, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks
$12 General Admission
Hot Laps at 6 Racing At 7pm.

Wayne County Speedway is about an hour South East of Norwalk. Either has excellent Saturday night dirt track racing.

Yes they did kick us out early and it took us over an hour to drive across the street wound up being like #130 while they kept letting people into linders off of highway 18.

just wake up at 7am then get in line on 18 (around 7:30-7:45am).....you don't want to be on 601, like you found out you'll never get into linders lot!
