Default NO National Anthem!!!

Well for the First time in 45-50 years of attending any and all sporting events I was witness to NO National Anthem at a college baseball game. WTH? Had almost gotten to a standing position in anticipation of the anthem as did others around me when all of the sudden the players ran on the field and they just abruptly began playing. Did they just forget? Could this have been on purpose? Anybody else witness this before? Never had that happen before and hopefully it never will again. WOW!!

Did you ask the officials at the game? Only they would know why or why not.

To each his own I guess .. frankly Id prefer they not play it at any games..
I went to a sports game to see a sports game.. not for any govt rah-rah.

and thats funny because the only team I DO care about at all has been the
Chicago Blackhawks ( since 86-87) which has the best anthem in the nation.. period.

go Figure..

John

As someone who shed blood, sweat and tears for the Army and lost several friends in combat I can see how tough it must be for you to spare 2-3 minutes bearing tribute to the country whose freedoms you take so lightly. That so called govt. rah-rah means something to many people in this country and your attitude about it reminds me of how far we have sunk as a country. Hope you don't ever need the protection of one of us because you sure as hell wouldn't deserve it.

Blue'69, it's early in the season, and I'd put my $$$ on confusion up in the press box, have experienced it myself, getting ready to announce a game, couldn't get the National Anthem to load as the player in charge of inputting all the new walk up music, messed up all the music selections on the laptop. Glad don't have to deal with that anymore. Rather watch the game, support my sons college team....son and his teammates arent doing too shabby either

The only time I've heard of this happening was last year, I believe it was an NCAA baseball game, where they had a triple header (3 games in one day). For some reason, they said there was no need for a national anthem for the third game, but the fans stood and began singing the National Anthem anyway.

God forbid we'd have any of that filthy, bothersome govt. Rah-rah ...

Dude you are not cheering your govt. you are cheering your freakin country.
Oh well ... I'll just try to stop now, I feel myself hyper-ventilating a bit.

In Oregon the high school state wrestling tournament is held in the "Memorial Coliseum". Lots of sporting events held there and always play the National Anthem. During the wrestling tournament, each day, the announcer explains that the building is called the Veterans War Memorial Coliseum and explains what it represents then they play the National Anthem. Almost brings me to tears every time!
If you think playing the National Anthem is a waste of time think about the youth and how jacked up this country is getting, then do us a favor and get the he!! out!

To all my brothers who have served OUR country along with me, I hope those who feel they can't wait the few min's it takes to honor OUR country, & to let all know that this country is still strong & a place where people like the turd who just can't wait to see the game start, try that in 1 of those turd countries that where if you don't stand & cheer for there commie country, just see how long it is before your your in some dark dingy cell. You wouldn't be able to do that in over there or be able to type in what you just did without being behind bars. I can tell you never stood up for your country, & thats the USA. Maybe your some kind of whinning bleeding heart who always wants & never give back to help MY country. If you can't stand up for MY country I guess it's your time to leave MY country because you don't deserve to be in the same place as me because it's clear you have no pride in MY country. Maybe your not even here legal to be in MY country. If you feel that way about MY country, why don't you just leave MY country & see how much you can get away with your STUPID & narrow minded attitude without the protection of MY rah-rah country to let you be able to do just that. Served U.S. NAVY 1974 to 1977 & very proud of it.

Well, said and Thank you for your service.

I knocked a late twenty something's hat off his head at Yankee game last year, after he muffled f#%* this country as the Anthem was about to begin. His loud ass also was removed from the section shortly thereafter as he was loud and obnoxious.

I wish everyone had to travel/live in some other countries for a couple of years. I did and was glad to come home. Most people don't realize how great this country really is and it's hard for me now to be around spoiled/stupid attitudes.

X2. I don't see the anthem as "government rah rah." I think the current administration running our government would rather replace it with an apology, but that's for a different thread.

Any time I'm at an event and the National Anthem is play I feel flush with pride and grate full that my Grandparents left their homeland to come to America. Thus I was born in the greatest country ever. Those few minutes that I stand with my hand over my heart to pay homage to my country I would hardly call it "govt. rah-rah."

Well seems I made this Clubhouse bound and for that I apologize ( to
anyone bothering to still listen that is ) ..

my thought was just that there are so many more things to be upset about..
this seemed pretty insignificant..

but I made a bad comment that veterans took as insulting.. not my intent..but
reading it later I should have predicted how it would be interpreted.

on the other hand.. as a historian I am well read in propaganda and crowd
control techniques - all countries use them.. and the anthem at sporting events
is exactly that.. I just dont buy propaganda.. from anyone.

why else would the military PAY sports teams to trot out vets at anthems
like show ponies ? makes me ill to see them (the vets) being used that way.
I dont need to be PAID to honor them .. but why would the military actually pay ?
one example - http://www.flake.senate.gov/public/i...f-ed94b5eeaea3

Also fairly amazing to see the Fibbie profiling going on about me just from that one comment..
so IM the downfall of America.. thatll be hard to spin that on a resume...
actually i think rabid jingoism is much more dangerous than myself.

Im not against veterans or any strong free thinking people.. and I dont
hate America.. best idea ever invented.. too bad the MIC hijacked it back
in the early 60s.. America I love.. the MIC can get F'd.

Anyhow..needed to clarify what I meant.. though most probably
wont care.. so rip away...

John

I'm thankful for all who served to make this country great. And to sing the National Anthem is a privilege I will always cherish.

America love it or leave it, there's the propaganda you say the government & us buy into. If you don't like it here & want to slam me & my brothers, try owning the cars & our toys you have here & all the freedom you have now. Try to get that in any other country. We that are proud to be Americans love the freedom we have & I wouldn't trade it for any other country. Try not standing or singing alone with the anthem of any other country. You either do it or you find yourself behind bars. You would never be able to talk this kind of sH1t against any other country & get away with it.
