I knocked on the door and the young wife that answered it, replied to my inquiry about the car: "it's my husband's car. sure, I'll sell it to you. How about $900?"

HELL YES! The 340 Duster was mine! I drove it home just in time for me to get my license (shh, don't tell). That was ONE FAST car! Best win was over a 69 SS 396 Chevelle and the cop car behind it. hehehe

I've always loved mopars, but also got an early taste for Pontiacs in this 72 Grand Prix with a tri-power:

the car my wife had when we met was a 73 340 Duster, blue with white stripes, half top and interior.

My brother had my Scat-Trac G-60s on blacked out Rally I's on the back of his Goat. Hidden beside the house is a 65 GTO, and across the street a 66. There was also another 66 and a 68 that belonged to other neighbors. Thirty homes on the street, with 6 GTOs.
I've heard you mention that Z-28 a few times!

The only photo I have of me with my Burma Brown Formula 350. Probably around September '73.

man, you guys were so darn lucky to have those bad ass rides as teens! damn. well, as a kid in the mid 80s, I had a 1982 olds cutlass 2dr. nice looking car, but with the 3.8 v6 a moped could beat it. anyway, fast forward to today..still have it and plan on finally getting around to putting a nice 350 chevy built to L79 specs in it..oh trust me..the poncho mill swap is running a close second!

its your car and I firmly believe in doing with it what you desire, but out of curiosity, why didn't you consider an olds engine swap

'81-82 drove the 'Stang. Well, less the 6 months I lost my License for 85 in a 55. Down from 110 and passenger ejecting weed from the window immediately prior to apprehension. Then inherited the '66 & drove it in '83.

High School was good. Lots of cool rides. One buddy made the cover of 4WD with an amazing silver Jeep he had. Not bad for a place with about 400 students.

Graduated in '89...first car was a '66 Mustang straight six. Bought it with the $1800 I saved from landscaping before I could drive it...would sit in it for hours listening to the radio. It was a deep red with black top/interior. Not much to it but I loved the lines and simplicity. I can still remember how it seemed to 'float' over 90mph...absolutely zero road feel!

1953 Chieftain straight 8. Great running and riding car but slowwwwwww. Only car I could beat was my buddy's 1948 Stude with a flat head 6. Car never failed to start and never let me down. Was rear ended by another kid driving a 41 Ford with no front bumper. $150 damage and insurance company totaled my car.

Drove parents cars thru HS - '77 Malibu 2dr, 77 Jeep Wagoneer, '79 GMC vandura with 400 sbc. I was pretty hard on cars back then and my father was sick of me hammering his stuff, so he made me buy my own. The Jeep I used to take off road, as well as do 4 wheel burnouts often. The van I blew the motor up and used to drag race. The Malibu was a dog and I only drove it a short time until my little sister got her license. She finished it off, and I later pulled the 305 out and put in my 78 Manual trans GP.

First car I bought was a '76 Grand Prix SJ - 400 4bbl, TH400, Buckets/Console, Red w/white vinyl top. Think I got it towards end of 11th grade. Bought it wrecked from a salvage yard for $425. Needed header panel, bumper and L front fender. Drove it several years until it started getting rough. Replaced it with a '79 GP LJ (which I moved the engine/trans from the '76 to - after both being rebuilt with hot rod stuff). Then a '78 manual Trans Grand Prix. Also had another '78 and a '77 parts car.

Cut grass in the summers when I was 12,13,14, painted fences, then got a pizza making job when I was 15. Saved my money and had 600 bucks and bought my first car a
1965 Malibu SS.
Drove it and took my brothers to see "Jaws" when it came out in '75. Fun car and economical at the time 283-2BBL/Glide. Later had several bad-ass BBC motors in it. Sold her when I moved to college. Good times though.

My first car, bought my uncle's '70 Tempest. Owned about 10 years. Wish I still had it. Manual steering and brakes but had AC. 350/2 barrel. When I was done it ran a '79 Olds 403, T350, dual plane intake, Holley 650, headers, 12 bolt 4:11s. Best ET 13.95 on a basically stock motor. Loads of fun, raced at E-Town, Maple Grove and Atco. Did a little street racing too. All my friends had Chevys, but everyone liked to see the Pontiac win.

Thanks Steve! The '70 body style will always be one of my favorites. Almost bought a '70 wagon before I found my '63
