Can you measure from the centerline of the carb mounting bolt hole to the TV cable mounting plane? That way I can cut down the bracket I have.

2.060 for the center to the TV cable hole to the center of the closest carb stud. Hard to measure between stud holes as the bracket isn't solid there.

Update
Got the Q-jet rebuilt and set on top of the motor today. I found a bracket identicle to the one pictured below.
Ben stated the bracket will make it easy. But the brakcet hits the #5 runner. I dont mind cutting and welding the bracket, but before I do, I just want to make sure I am not missing something. Like, if I could just bolt it on if I want to use an inch of spacers between the carb and the bracket. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks Jon

Last one I used came off late eighties Cadillac with 307 Olds and Qjet. The bracket looks like the one pictured, bolts to rear carb bolts/studs. I bought the carb also and switched the shaft to my carb. No measurements, no angles, no question! All cost $25.00 from jy.

Frankie, what intake are you running? I wouldn't think it would make a difference, but Im running a 70 iron intake. I used a chevy primary shaft (so the linkage would fit the TV cable) when I rebuilt the carb.
This is the area I am having trouble with......

I ground that lug off the intake and a little gringing on the bracket and it works fine

I had the same observations on my set up using the Olds 307 bracket and a cast iron intake - the bracket hit the intake runner, right at the rectangular boss on the top of the runner. I ended up doing one thing at a time to kind of sneak up on the clearance needed: Shaved a little off the bottom of the bracket where the contact point was. Shaved a little off the intake runner boss. Used the thickest carb gasket I could find. I used studs for the rear carb attachment so I could play with spacers and raise the bracket up a little off the carb to clear the intake runner. All the aforementioned got the clearance needed between the bracket, but how to hook it up the TV cable to my Q-jet which is a late 70s 400 unit? Solved that with an adapter from Art Carr (and others sell) which bolts onto the throttle arm. It has the correct stud for the TV cable. After everything was bolted up, I checked the geometry and all seemed well. However, once I tried to add the vacuum fitting to the rear of the carb, the fitting hit the bracket. Fortunately this was easily resolved with a little grinding on the bracket for clearance. I can post pics if you like. |

I used that set up on a '61 Cadillac with a '72 472. I just used a 1 inch spacer. The Cadillac intake is very flat and I had the opposite problem. How much interference are you having? I would think if it were only like a quarter of an inch, bending the bracket up would not effect the geometry enough to cause a problem. You're supposed to measure the valve in trans anyway.

The only information I can find is about the carb end (measurements, diagrams, etc.). Can you tell me more about measuring the valve?
