The rivian looks like a Honda too. Guess they all want to build trucks that don’t sell well.

[QUOTE=TAKerry;6382711]I was talking with a neighbor last week that just bought a new Ford Lightning.
Is yer neighbor a millionaire? Jinkies... 3$ a day isn't horrible - did he have to upgrade his electrical panel in the garage to feed the thing? |

Is yer neighbor a millionaire? Jinkies...] Average price of a new truck these days is $60,000, so the cost of the Lightning isn't as far fetched as it may seem. Last edited by Stuart; 12-06-2022 at 12:14 AM. |

That does bring it home for sure. But if you consider a Ford Maverick a truck, a stripper version is $19,700.00 . Almost 40 MPG with standard hybrid powertrain. That helps bring things back to reality a little.

My local Ford dealer has a Shelby Super Snake XLT short bed. On sale for $96K. I think list is about $116K. I’d buy that way before any EV!
Photo not from my dealer . . . . .but looks exactly the same, BadA$$! 700+HP.

Yes, I have said before that I think the price is ridiculous, but then again so is a new f250. I dont understand it personally. I drove by a dealership a couple of weeks ago and painted on the windshields of the f 150s was a monthly payment. They were all $800 - $900 a month! My mortgage payment is not much more than that!!! I cannot see working my butt off to make a payment to some bank just for the sake of driving a shiny new vehicle. |

The hummer looks like its got water flying in from somewhere at 12:41. LOL. Im pretty sure towing, working or cold weather will show the same problems as the lightning.

Love those videos, everyone gets an OPINION and not a single member of the board
has worked in Ford Engineering. On the GM side, Keith Seymore has done his time with GM Engineering, 43 years I believe. Keith and his comments, you can take to the bank. Did any of you know that Keith was one of the first people in the USA to drive an electric vehicle, daily? Tom V.

Its not someones opinion. This is actual on the road, towing, weather, etc. situations that are real life. Also this is not picking on the lightning,,this is EV trucks that are just not there yet as real world practicality. Drive them in warm climates and dont tow very far and Im sure youll be all set. Unless you let your batteries get down and your in a hurry to get somewheres. Then you might to get your hybrid out atleast to know youll get there and back. You can put all the lipstick on that pig.

You have the best Neon to ever go down a production line. I am pretty sure its the last one running in the state of Ohio.

Try not to use your heater when it's cold out and you're trying to conserve the battery. That's just brilliant right there considering alot of states in the US have some long, cold winters . Also not everyone has a garage to keep their truck warm and plugged in. Engineering at its finest.

Too bad Ford Engineering hasn’t figured out how to solve the range problem, can’t be very proud of that POS.

But you screwed up again on the research for the post. You would never make it in Advanced Engineering OR Research you would be fired. Tim Vaughn was never a Pontiac Guy so the odds of him posting on this board are slim to never. Tom Vaught and Tim Vaughn are not the same person, He put in 37 years, I assume, before he retired. I put in 39.5 years before I retired. So again, you post the wrong information, and then for most people reading the posts who understand the lack of preparation for the post, understand your motives. But I got a good laugh out of the post anyway. Can't fix stupid. Have a nice day. PS I have said several times that Electric vehicles have been around for a long time, ask Keith Seymore. It will still be a long time before the infrastructure is in place for widespread E-Vehicles. Tom V.
