to be honest... I think the 236/242/114 cam from Butler is still not the biggest cam possible for a street driven 462cui... I'm a little surprised that idle quality is nearly as good as before with the 224/230/110 cam

I guess the next bigger Butler cam would work fine as well for the street: 242/248, .540/.563, 113LS

Oh for sure we are far from "the biggest cam possible" for a street driven 462 or similar.
I know I would like to upgrade again in the future...a little more duration and more compression.
With those Butler cams they are pretty mild for lift.Id sooner see more lift..my current cam is around a 660 lift with 1.65 rockers

Would I need better flowing heads, if I go with a high lift cam?
I have stock E-heads, no porting....
1.65 rockers would give me more valve lift and the new springs should be fine with a little more...

I'm not familiar with what the stock E heads flow but I'm sure they could take advantage of more lift. Your valve lift would go from .521 to .573 on the intake and the exhaust would go from .540 to .594. But then the issue you may run into is how close are you to coil bind with your valve springs?
All depends what your after for performance..some of us just try and wring out every last ounce of horsepower out of a combination.

coil bind height is 1.150, so I think max valve lift would be 0.60..
the problem is I don't want to remove the heads and I think the pushrods will not clear with 1.65 rockers?!

by the way... I think to remember that my heads flow somewhere between 260-270cfm
