My 614 SR RAIV 400 picked up 0.2 sec and 1-2 mph going to a reverse split cam. It ran pretty good with the old Ultradyne 288/296. The exhaust flowed 85% of the intake, why we went way over on the durations! John Schloe in his old RAIV Stocker used a single pattern, John Angeles in their RAIV SS car uses a single pattern.

Thought I would revisit this thread since I found out that there will not be a 427 stroker kit bringing the total CID to close to 440 cubes. The stroker kit is for a 461 that will mostly come in at close to 468 cubes. Opinions on the RA II heads I posted before and the roller cam version from Butler that I posted. Good, Decent or bad?

Thanks,
Jim

On my old 428 w 722s and a RAIV intake I ran 550 lift solid version of the RAIV cam and it ran consistent 12.00
Muncie m20 and a 4.10 gear w a 28 inch tall tire .

Launched it fairly high but didn’t shift it particularly high Ram good and lasted a long time. Was a good combo.

I have the exact cam you posted pictures of earlier with the 230/236 durations on 112 lsa in a 433 with 1.65 rockers which get it close to butlers ra IV cam. I absolutely love this cam, this was my second motor with this cam. Great vacuum, pulls good to 5500, not sure how much better butlers ra IV version would be over this cam.

Hi soupman. Would you mind sharing your cam's make and p/n?

The cam in post number 20 is a Butler custom grind:

https://butlerperformance.com/i-2503...tegory:1272239

The Comp XE lobes used are 3315 and 3316. However they were probably ordered with a "B" suffix code after the lobe number. When ordered with that code the .050 duration will remain the same but often the the advertised duration can be different, typically by 1 or maybe 2 degrees. Similar situation with the lift.

Curious where this netted out.

My winter project is to update my engine with a set of RAII heads/manifolds and have been looking at the Butler hydraulic rollers. Over the phone they recommended the 744 grind (279/291 224/236, .450/.450 HR115) which seems a little conservative to me, at least compared to their 041 (287/296 232/241, .507/.541 HR113) and the HFT I'm running today. This is going in a 400 +.040, auto, power brakes, a/c and 3.55s so maybe the 744 is a more usable option.

Currently running a Lunati Voodoo 702 with #16 d-port heads and 1.65 rockers. (262/268 - 219/227 ; .468/.489 ;LSA/ICL: 112/108).

I don't have data from a Cam Dr. I have generated some lobe lift data from the listed cam specs. On the intake the valve lift curve for both cams looks almost the same. The big difference is the RAIV needed 1.65:1 while the 3315 used 1.5:1

I dropped off the Butler Grind HR 041cam last week at the engine builder. I think it will be built in the next six months. It will be dyno'd. The results will be posted.
