Default is my 455 crank done?

i got a factory cast 455 crank that is 30 on the rods & mains. the mains will polish out but the rods may need to be turned. is it possible to offset grind it to the 4.25 stroke & use the 6.800 rods? had this done in the past but the cranks were all std.dont wanna throw it out i've always had good luck with the stock cranks thanks. even if it was only ground .010 on the rods it would be tough to get to 4.25, so no at .030-.030 there is not enough meat to offset grind to 4.25 Without welding it first to add material

If your willing to replace stuff like rods and pistons, might wanna look into the eagle 6.635" long rods to save the crank using the 4.21" stroke.

With the eagle rods you end up going to the BBC rod journal as SOP,only catch is that rod also uses the BBC pins,so you either have to modify the existing pontiac pistons for the .990" BBC floating pins,or get some pistons that are already set-up for them.

Or I guess you could rebush the 6.635" eagles for a .980" pontiac pin,but I digress.

Thumbs up

Ditto to chief. We have sold a bunch of pistons for just that senerio. The .010 longer rod just about puts the piston at the top too.

And if the mains get beyond bearings available. Don't throw it away. I have a bearing conversion kit to put it in a 400 and all you do is turn down the mains down to 3" and also cut the seal part to 400 also.
