Default Forward lamp wiring harness replacement

Very excited to be replacing my original forward lamp wiring harness, it should clear up a myriad of mystery issues that I’ve been dealing with. Been cleaning up and replacing ground wires throughout the chassis too.

95% of this job is super simple. However I’m sure there is a trick to removing the forward lamp harness boss from the firewall (behind the brake booster). Anybody here dealt with removing the block from the firewall lately? I found one article that says just pull it straight out from the firewall. Is that correct or is there a fastener holding it tight? I’m guessing there must be a screw or two hiding in the tar or whatever that gunk stuff is. It’s the block on the right in the photo. Thanks.

Sometimes the best way to figure something out…..is to make a post on an Internet forum…..then and only then you’ll find that it wasn’t really all that hard to figure out after you looked at it again…..
