Default 65?/66/67 A-body Inner Fender Splash Shield/Support

The below info is from the Shield Want Ad in the 61-77 GTO, Tempest & LeMans Parts WANTED forum. The question about these shields/supports has been a on going thing here at PY for the A-body guys. And so it's not lost if the ad is moved or deleted I figured this info needed a place where it's 'safe'.

I want to thank GTOpaul for calling me today with some great info, and something new I never thought about.

He's looked up the part numbers on the steel splash shields for the front of the inner fenders. The 66 and 67s are the same... same part numbers. Tho there is one more piece of info. He said he has one for the 66/67 A-bodies that had the transistorized ignition. [I do not know the part number for that piece.] A part of the TI system bolts to the front of that shield.

Thanks for the call Paul. It's very much appreciated by all of us.

So when OPG, PY, Ames, Year One, or whomever says that the 67 kit they sell will not fit the 66 A-bodies, it's because the complete kit is for 67 front bumper filler. The shields only in the kit will fit the 66 A-body cars. And my thinking, possibly the 65s too.

Now if PY could find a way to get just the steel splash shields to sell separately, that would be great for those that can't find them when theirs need replacing or are missing. I plan on checking with PY to see if this is somehow a possibility in the future. Maybe Ccass or Mike will chime in on what can be done.

Default More Info Needed.....

This is what we have. 1st 2 photos are originals for 66 and 67. 3rd is the 67 only kit with one of the shields circled from PY's catalog. The 2 are the only parts useable in the kit for 66 and 67. Kit is from Dynacorn and sold only as a kit. Mike at PY is checking to see why they can't be sold separately for those that want new ones. He'l let us know the outcome when he finds out.

I'm also checking to see if they're the same for 64 and 65. Also for anyone with a 68, 69, 70 and up that can check to see if yours are the same too. If they're same or different let us know here in this thread please. I know Pontiac kept a lot of unseen parts the same thru the years, while only doing the outside andinterior cosmetic changes for each model year.
Thanks.

Thanks for that Mike. One more part of the puzzle solved.

Got a photo to share? Might as well get all the info and photos we can. I'm sure the guys in the 64-65 Tech forum will be interested too.

Here's one off a 65 air car. They are smaller in size also.

Thanks Mike. The one for the 65, I wonder if it's the same one for 64.

3 Deuce 64 [Don] up in NY said he'd check on his for the 64s when he can get to his car.

I've got a 64 out back, I'll take a look at it. Raining out pretty good right now. I'm betting the 64 and 65 are the same.

It would be nice if they offered the fender extensions and splash shields as a kit for the 66's,as it looks like they are both the same for 66/67.

I could use everything in the kit except for the top 67 filler piece.

Has anyone heard back from Mike yet. ThX!

No Gene, no word back from Mike yet. Give him a call at PY. They'll put you thru to him as long as he's not out hiding somewhere. That way he'll know there's more than just me looking into this. More in numbers wanting them sold separately will help our chances for success.

I'll call him on Monday too.

I will look into it.
Worst case scenario would be to purchase the kit and use the filler for a door stop
Obviously,i wouldn't if i didn't have too.

But in a worse case senario, you could get the kit and sell the grill parts to someone restoring their car and looking for the 67 parts you have left over.

I called Mike at PY and nothing done yet. However.. I did call Dynacorn in CA and I'm waiting for a call back from their R&D department. Hopefully we'll have an answer soon.
Notice that I said hopefully.

One would think that Dynacorn would see a market in selling just the 2 splash shields, as well as the kit. Anyone have a point of contact and a number at Dynacorn? I don't mind calling them up and asking.

Guys-
Bumping this thread...my steel splash shields have ripped at the mounting holes for my 66. Any update on just buying these outside of the entire kit?

Win, I never heard back from them. Go on their website and get their phone number and give them a call. The more people that call should get them off their butts and get them look into it.
