Had a falling out with the guy I am rebuilding my engine with. Engine is at our workplace but engine stand is his. Want to get the engine back to my place tommorrow but the only stand I can come up with on such short notice is only rated at 750 lbs. Is that enough to support the Engine through complete assembly? Also posted this in T/A tech. to try to get a quick response .

Yes. It will not be as stable, and it might be harder to turn, but it should be just fine.

Right about 700LBS with all the accessories.
I've used the 750LB stands for years. The 3 wheel tripod type are much harder to use and move. But they still work.

just be careful when you move it on the three wheeler so it doesn't fall over. it really sucks when that happens. mike

Tell me about it Mike. Few years back I moved about six blocks. Put my 389 in the back of my P/U on a three wheeler (had heads and intake off). Put my 16 year old son in the back to keep it from rolling around. Went REAL slow. Turning onto the street where we live now and I heard and felt a hell of a bang. Looked around and see my son standing there with the "deer in the headlight look" and my engine and stand laying in the street. Luckily it landed on the front left. Smashed the fuel pump and put two gouges on the extream front teft of the block (outside of the sealing area for the head gaskets that I stoned out. In addition i had a fairly good dent in the rear fender of my newly painted '53 Chev., so yes those thee wheel stands can be "tippy".

Dang Ed, sorry to hear that.... Glad you got over it though. Did you tell your son "that was your college money"????
