Hello all...Did Pontiac ever use the 8.5" ring and pinions and what years where they? Thanks...Gary

They started using them in 1971 on the A-bodies. F bodies from 71-up to 81

More specifically, they used them in 71-74 Ventura II's (and 74 GTO's). These rearends will bolt right in to a 67-69 Firebird. If you're after a replacement for your 8.2, I'd highly recommend upgrading to the 8.5. They are stronger, are much cheaper for any type of part, and they have the GM interchange thing going for them. They were built from 71- 87(aprrox year) and the internals are all pretty much interchangable.
