Default ZDDP part numbers

i know this subject has been covered here but i cant seem to find a thread with actual part numbers...except gm EOS. the parts guys i am using have no idea what i am talking about and it seems most oil "supplements' dont really disclose what the hell is in them. can someone give me a part number or exact name i can give it to my part guy so he can get it for me...he tried to sell me lucas oil stabilizer and i know that is not right. with all the talk about wiped cam i am getting a little nervous....i have been using cheap oil cause i have been changing it every 500 miles lookin for particles.......

thanks.......

Are you talking to a GM dealership parts guy? That's the only place I know of that sells General Motors Engine Oil Suppliment--GM EOS.

part # 1052367

no,. just a reg auto parts/speed shop so they dont have the GM EOS. the reason i asked is STP makes a whole bunch of products and none that the guy could find specifically said "zinc" supplement.....

STP oil treatment in the blue bottle. Thick stuff!

Walmart sells the same product...at 1/2 the already cheap price.

The blue STP bottle says ZDDP Formula in small print on the label.

I had a thought. If you use one bottle of STP, is it the same amt of zinc as 6 qts of Rotella? Do you get more total Zinc content if you use the Rotella oil?

STP Oil Treatment, the same stuff they have been selling for 50 years.
Using cheap oil will surely get you lots of metalflakes to look at.
Check out RotellaT in gallons at WalMart or Delo400 gallons. Thats what the big semi diesels trucks use.
The price comes out the same or less as cheap oil with the added cost of a supplement.

Default shell oil

the oil don;t have to be shell the store brand works just as well as long as it meets the diesel spec. i have been using the oil for diesel trucks in my cars for over 35 years with no problums at all.

Using BVR421's link, I wonder if the new oil stabilizer ( white bottle ) has more zddp than the oil treatment?

There is a guy (an engineer for a bearing manufacturer) on a board I used to frequent that has been going on about ZDDP for years. His position was that the STP 4-cylinder formula (red bottle) was better than the blue bottle because it had less "other stuff" and the same amount of ZDDP. Can anyone confirm/refute this?

Also be aware that the diesel oil formulas will change in 2007 with the mandating of catalytic converters in the big trucks. The Zinc levels will drop in the diesel oil like standard engine oil did a few years back. So even the Rotella T will not be the same stuff you can get now
