Default 67 2+2

I thought I would share that my old retired Pontiacker buddy Arthur called me up from Wichita Falls and said he got a deal on numbers matching 67 2+2 that he found out via a nurse at the assisted care center where he lives. I asked the colors (light blue ext, white int) 428 has not been started in 10 years and seats need recovering. I guess it's pretty rare, 1700 ish 67 2+2 's total? I will be going to see it and work on getting it running I am sure. His son is supposed to be picking it up on a trailer this weekend coming. Pics to add later.

Nice. I knew a few Pontiac people in WF many years ago but can't remember an Arthur. I bet we knew some of the same people though. Any idea when you are going?

Well Arthur goes by Art and is a long time DAPA member. I first met him in the late 80's early 90's and then never saw him again till 2007 at Cedar creek dragway. I have been close friends with him since, he is in his late 60's now and suffers from Parkinsons and this year lost his license due to an increase in incidents and trouble for him to stay on his meds and meals. He has lived all over, Burkburnett, Webster, Athens, Springtown, over the years. The last couple years have been very difficult. I helped him acquiring his first 455s first in a 63 Catalina and built a couple mild street 455 65 Tempest's for him. His last few years driving, he had the fastest Pontiacs he had ever owned and he was a happy guy. He's a great guy but is going thru a tough time in transition to the inevitable. Back on topic, yes I will hopfully get up there soon but not exactly sure.
His first call to me on it Saturday was what would it take to get in line for me to do the engine for him.

Sounds like good guy and your a good friend. One time when I lived in WF I went with one of my friends to somebodys house that had a 65. That was in the late 80's or early 90's, maybe that was him.
Looking forward to seeing pics, sounds like a great car.

I talked to Art again last night, he sounded good and said he got his license back
They are picking up 2+2 today and I found out its a stick car ! 3 spd manual with buckets and console. Last tagged in 1978 maybe ?

So how many manual shift 67 2+2's built ?

Art already has a M20 Muncie he can use to swap out the 3spd. They got it picked up today. Last registration is 1979! Yikes. It was supposedly parked because the 3spd was leaking alot of oil but the engien was ok. Will advise if it is 360 or 376 hp when I find out.

Without seeing it yet, over the phone it seems to be a 360 hp 428. As expected since it is a steelie wheel 3 spd manual car, likely to be a base 2+2 . So it's known total American 67 2+2 production combioned hardtop and convertible is 1768 and I thought I saw a figure of 200-300 for convertible? So what perecentage of hardtops are stick? I know the overal perecentage of total Catalina production is quite low but a performance model it would be higher. So perhaps between 300-700 67 2+2 hardtop with manual shifts? Know idea really. I guess PHS needs to log all the info into an Excel spreadsheet huh?

'65/'66 was about a 50/50 split between 4 speed and automatic.... So I'm guessing '67 would be about the same.

Default Saw it today and got some pics

Well there is no arguing the car has been off teh road for 30 plus years! Its pretty rough as far the interior but its the real deal. Verified WG code on 670 headed factory chrome 428 360 hp, manual 3 spd with power steering and A/C but manual drum brakes. It does have a Limited Slip lube tag on the diff cover , Yay for Safe-T-Track ! Exterior seems pretty straight with lack of rust holes visible but maybe some old hidden body work? Need floor pans and full interior job, gotta luv the Blue exterior with Parchment white buckets! I did put a breakover bar and 15/16th socket down on the crank bolt and it moved easy and wasnt stuck. I glanced at the carb and it had a round tag on the side with if I remember a 7027263 ? Seems like the correct carb.

It should have a 3.42 , it's the only ratio showing for 3 spd manual or 4speed 2+2 360 hp regardless of A/C or not.

What a cool find...One of the great DarkSiders.

Interesting to see '64 GP running lights in the grilles and the period 8-track player under the dash.

Art is a great guy; I hope he is able to be able to drive this car someday!

I also want to publicly recognize "Pontiac Larry" as being a true asset to the Pontiac community, a great friend and a damn good American.

Thanks for sharing this with us, LP.

Nice find - seems like half of '67 2+2s I run across are Tyrol Blue!
