1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans Tube Chassis Drag Car...Finally @ the Drag Strip!
All,
Below is the stats from our runs (Erica is the driver by the way-for those who did not know) down the 1/8 mile at Rolling Thunder Drag Strip. They are listed from top to bottom in each category from 1st to 7th run. The ones in red are from Friday night (10-17-08). The ones in blue are from Sunday (10-19-08) during the day. After a little more than 5 years out of drag racing, we are back to drag racing again. We only got 7 runs in on the Tempest before the season was to end. We had a great time and a lot of support from friends, family, club members, KRE, TIP, and fellow drag racers. Special thanks goes out to Charlie Puls of CT Engine and Chassis in Fremont, Nebraska, Mat Steadman-DM of the AUTO ZONE STORES of the Metro Area, Tom Frederickson, Josh Trail of Trail Performance Coatings, POA/Nebraskaland members, Jim "Road Kill" Howe, the guys of MHRA, and a huge thanks to Bob "Ironman" Elsasser who played a vital role in helping get the Tempest to this point! We have also put some Photo Bucket links to some video we took, of a few runs we did on Sunday. Enjoy! Reaction Time: .899 .788 .609 .634 .614 .544 .645 60' Time: 2.631 2.091 2.330 2.036 1.920 1.891 1.883 330' Time: 8.097 6.093 6.439 5.617 5.523 5.451 5.432 1/8 Mile E/T: 11.896 9.582 9.720 8.569 8.462 8.427 8.389 MPH: 56.92 64.07 74.28 83.39 83.86 82.95 83.57 ....working out the bugs, upgrades, with more practice, and seat time in the car, it will only get better! Look forward to seeing you at the track in 2009! -Shawn & Erica Kniesly Photo Bucket Video Links: http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r...n_Erica030.flv http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r...n_Erica031.flv http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r...n_Erica032.flv http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r...n_Erica033.flv Photo Bucket Picture Link: http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r...n_Erica029.jpg Rolling Thunder Drag Strip-Ed Harding-Track Photographer Pictures: http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/2...2008&offset=64 http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/2...2008&offset=96 |

Those rear quarterpanels look awesome with the big tires!
Are the rear wheel openings stock or were they modified?

It has changed (the 63) a little since the 1st pontiac challenge. Would love to make next years and see your progress. Yours has come together much faster then mine did. Hope that magical number comes your way after some tweaking. My problem is that number keeps changing as I change things. But its only(Cubic Dollars). LOL Good luck and GO for it!!! Looking Good! I know a little about a little if I can help let me know. John
