Default Pic of 1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans Tube Chassis Drag Car

Well all, here is our '62 Tempest so far! We are nearing the end of it's completion. We will be out in 2008 for the drag race season.

Will post more pics as progress is made!

That is a nice looking Tempest. Is that a VFN fiberglass hood? any comments on that hood also? Thanks Pat

Pat,
Thanks for the compliment. It will look even better when it is painted, and all the stainless goes back on.
Yes, that is a VFN fiberglass hood. I am pleased with it. It is sturdy, and yet light weight. Although on the front of the hood on the drivers side, where it meets with the grille, I need to build it up with a little more fiberglass. It does not quite flow as well to the grille as the passenger side does. But still happy someone makes fiberglass parts for the '62!

We will be running at Rolling Thunder Drag Strip at Mid America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, Iowa. Where the Annual Pontiac Challenge Drag Event is held. It will also hopefully be at Spearfish, SD for the Pontiac Nationals in 2008?! It will also be at Ark City, KS for the Pontiac Uprising in 2008. We are really excited about the 2008 drag race season!

Warriors Revenge, My wife is the one to thank for picking out the '62 Tempest LeMans. I was looking at a '63 Catalina 2 door post. She saw this lil '62 across from it, and pulled me away from my original desire. At first I was not at all intrigued by this lil Pontiac. Luckily she had the foresight to see it's potential.

What dragstrip is near Spearfish?? If there is a Pontiac event that close to me I'm gonna have to figure some way to get money to get my car back together!!

Awesome job on the Tempest! Keep more pics coming!

Jeff Walker, I have been told it is going to be held at Sturgis Raceway. I have never been there, so I do not know much about it. The actual 2008 POCI NATS will be held in Spearfish, SD.

Here is a pic of my car, It looks about the same as I bought it back in 2001. Now that I got a job with steady hours I will finally have the time to do it up. I got an old log ram 6x2 intake I am going to use and make a 60s style drag car out of it. Pat

Ok,that what I was thinking as I knew of the track at Sturgis. So the 2008 POCI NATS are in Spearfish next year...I might have to make to that as it's only about 6 hrs away from me.

I'm done hijacking the thread now..
