Smile 1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans Tube Chassis Drag Car...Finally @ the Drag Strip!

All,

Below is the stats from our runs (Erica is the driver by the way-for those who did not know) down the 1/8 mile at Rolling Thunder Drag Strip. They are listed from top to bottom in each category from 1st to 7th run. The ones in red are from Friday night (10-17-08). The ones in blue are from Sunday (10-19-08) during the day. After a little more than 5 years out of drag racing, we are back to drag racing again. We only got 7 runs in on the Tempest before the season was to end. We had a great time and a lot of support from friends, family, club members, KRE, TIP, and fellow drag racers. Special thanks goes out to Charlie Puls of CT Engine and Chassis in Fremont, Nebraska, Mat Steadman-DM of the AUTO ZONE STORES of the Metro Area, Tom Frederickson, Josh Trail of Trail Performance Coatings, POA/Nebraskaland members, Jim "Road Kill" Howe, the guys of MHRA, and a huge thanks to Bob "Ironman" Elsasser who played a vital role in helping get the Tempest to this point! We have also put some Photo Bucket links to some video we took, of a few runs we did on Sunday. Enjoy!

Happy to see you have it on the track now. Keep tweaking and tuning. There's plenty there to work with. Most of all, have fun!

Those rear quarterpanels look awesome with the big tires!

Are the rear wheel openings stock or were they modified?

JKRULL66, Thanks John! Wish I was able to make it's debut at our Pontiac Challenge Drag Event. Oh well, that's the joy of building a drag car...LOL!

Look forward to seeing you again down the road. Love that '63 of yours!

GOATRIDER, That is one of the unique characteristics of the drag car. People seem to love the body lines, and big tires on this old '62. The rear wheel openings are stock, and have not been modified. The front wheel openings tho, have been modified.

BIG INJUN, Thanks Dave! Next time you see it, it will actually be going down the strip this time-not just sitting on display! Hope to see you guys racing in 2009!

It has changed (the 63) a little since the 1st pontiac challenge. Would love to make next years and see your progress. Yours has come together much faster then mine did. Hope that magical number comes your way after some tweaking. My problem is that number keeps changing as I change things. But its only(Cubic Dollars). LOL
Good luck and GO for it!!! Looking Good!
I know a little about a little if I can help let me know.
John
