Default Dealer Service technical Bulletins in binders

I have 9 of these original dealer bulletins in their factory binders with any updates that were sent to the dealer. They look like they were received and put on the shelf, and then never touched. I have had them about 20 years. I have 1964-1972 inclusive Thinking about selling them as a package deal. Not sure if they are worth $500, $1000 or $2000.
Also considering scanning all of them and putting them on CD, though that is going to be quite a bit of work. Any thoughts?

Might try contacting 1973Formula he did some assembly manuals.
He might be able to do them easier than you could?

Here's a link to a thread on the 73 manual:

1973 Assembly Manual

I would try copying them first before selling them.
Ebay usually seem to be around $50-$150 a year.
Also depends on how complete they are.
I have most of those also, but some years seem to be missing some pages.
Also, what sheets do they have, like the News Flash's Technical Bulletins, etc or the usual Service sheets?

I may be interested in buying them if you decide to sell.
(depending on price I guess)

I have a set of dealer bulletins for 1961 that I bought for I think around $40 or $50, but that was some years ago, so I'm not sure what they go for today. Remember that the sets follow the model year, not the calendar year - mine are dated from the fall of 1960 through the summer of 1961.

We've been digitizing automotive literature for about two and a half years now. All of our work has been posted on the web in the Automotive History Preservation Society's digital documents library. http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-b...0262549471.cgi

This project is a means to preserve and make available to the researcher and enthusiast alike much of our automotive history in a no-cost manner. I have PMD Tech Bulletin binders from 1963 through the early '80s. I just have not been able to find the spare time to scan these items and post them up. Frankly, we, as an organization, can use a lot of help in the scanning department. We have many materials to scan, and not a lot of people willing to help out with the labor-intensive scanning chores.

If you decide to scan these items before you sell them, please get in touch with me before you start, as I have put together some procedural guidelines for scanning documents for use in our library. If you are going to invest the time to scan them, I'd hope you would give some consideration to helping us out in our project. In fact, anyone else who may be able to lend us a hand would be most welcomed in our organization.

As for your original inquiry, I think that johnta1 is in the ballpark with his report of Ebay sales.

They all have the News Flash technical bulletins, but I wouldn't know if any were missing. As for the scanning, I am still a working stiff trying to keep 20 families fed, so probably don't have the time to scan these right now. They can't be fed in multiples. You have to do one sheet st a time, both sides etc.

Is this published anywhere or can you publish it here? I have all the equipment and software to scan, re-size, clean up, etc, but like most everyone else, lack the time.

It would be useful to publish an index of all the bulletins (there are numerous types) that Pontiac put out. Some of us have service bulletin binders, but have no idea if they are complete.

Some of mine has a list (index?) of the bulletins.

I'll see if I can post a couple.

Categories of parts and service documents in my 68, 72-75 binders
Not all were used every year
Some were renamed in later years
Almost any of these could contain service information
Lots of info not found in the shop manuals
Technically most of these do not belong in the binders
There are other PMD documents, but this is what is in mine
I doubt any of my binders is complete
  • Owner satisfaction Report
  • Dealer Technical Bulletin
  • General info and memos on PMD letterhead
  • Dealer Service Information Bulletin
  • Pontiac Craftsman Service News
  • Pontiac Sales Promotion Blueprint
  • Pontiac P&A Extra
  • GM Parts Division Parts & Accessories "Information" Bulletin
  • GM Parts Division Parts & Accessories "Action" Bulletin
  • Kent-Moore body tool catalog
  • Dealer Service Information Bulletin Binder Index
  • Warranty and Flat Rate Bulletin
  • Warranty Claims Procedure & Administration Bulletin
  • Warranty Parts Return List
  • Dealer Product Campaign Bulletin
  • General Motors Parts - The Broad View (Broadview IL distribution center bulletin)
  • Pontiac Essential Service Tools catalog

HFR, I didn't find the AMA for 72, I think it was the troubleshooting bulletins I was probably thinking was them.

I'll check some and see if I have other years.

Diego, are yours already scanned in?

1967 - pg 1-2

I didn't find any indices from 1968 on, not saying they didn't have them, my books didn't.

Didn't look at the prior years before 1963 either.

Interesting, seems after 1963 they called them Service News, while 1963 called them Service Management.

Great info!
I have a 72 index. It appears the indexes were issues the year after and covered the previous year and any past updates. I'd love to scan all Pontiac service bulletins and publish them on a website. Just need time...

I do have a PDF file that I can supply to anyone who is interested. Just PM me with your email address.

As far as finding time to scan, any scanning will help move the program forward. One night a week, one document a week from half a dozen people would make a pretty good dent in no time. In case anyone is having trouble finding this site, here's a link to our free digital documents library.

Found the link on the site:
how to scan.pdf

A few observations:
11x17 scanners are not very common, although not expensive. No problem, you can stitch larger pages together with most photo editing software.

You may end up with files that are too large to email. Do they have an ftp page set up?

Note that millions of pages of factory information and magazine articles were produced, so finding something for your car at this point in time is a roll of the dice.
