Last Friday I ordered some rear window channel replacements from Dane Belden. I received them yesterday and got to work and installed them as per his instructions....That's right....Belden Speed and Engineering even sends INSTRUCTIONS!...
Thanks Dane for this wonderful shipment! I saved so much time by not having to fabricate a piece such as this!

Wow, I didn’t know these were available pre-made, how did the fit?

Neither did I. Had to fabricate mine using file folder material as templates, cut the metal to shape, weld, weld, weld the pieces together and then weld into place. Very time consuming.
I see that they sell them for '66-'67 Ponchos...I will be doing some business with them as I have the same problem with that car. Good to know!

Joe,
Like a glove! I could not believe how great this product was...And the guys at Belden Speed & Engineering are great to work with....
The photos here are after the welding was complete, the grinding of the welds done and now ready for primer...

Greg, you will not be sorry you did! This move saved me so much time and not to mention not having to purchase a new roof skin!...

Worked today on getting the drivers side door jam and rocker sanded and ready for primer. Also had the opportunity to fit the rear bumper and make the adjustments it needed along with welding the tabs for the rear valance...

Thanks Z,
Working as hard as this 63 year old body will allow!....
Yesterday I worked on the passenger side and now have it ready for primer. I also found a little area that needed some attention....
Thank goodness for a cut-off wheel, new metal, Mig Welder, grinder and most of all some of Clark Gick's knowleldge....
I do so enjoy doing this restoration!...
We spent some of the time at Lafayette Auto Supply picking up material for "squirting" this old girl....That means we are getting close....

Today....I intend to be ready to pull the 71 LeMans Sport into the paint booth!....You read it right.....into the booth for the first of several coats of primer...."Shoot Clark....Look, it only needs paint and some TLC. We should have her done in..Oh couple of weeks or so.....That was November 2017"....
Goes to show you how much I knew about this business!
I am sanding the last of the body. I have only the new trunk lid and a few welds to clean up....EXCITED!...
Sitting here thinking about what I typed....
November 2017---April 2018...
Rip the LeMans apart from the rear bumper to the front bumper.
Replace the following:
Both sides...inner/outer wheel houses.
Both Full Rear Quarters
Trunk Floor and Braces
Rear Shelf Panel
Trunk Deck Lid
Completely sand & repair rot in left front fender and drivers door.
Sand and strip both sides of the hood. Painted the underside a single stage Satin Black.

I guess that is a lot of work for just 5 months...Thanks so much Clark Gick for allowing me to share in your knowledge and expertise. We have a wonderful time together not only working along side each other, but it is uncanny just how much we think alike.....

New game plan. I now have every part/piece stripped and sanded with 80 grit. Then finished with 180 grit. Rather than spray primer, we are doing some of the body work and filling the imperfections in the new quarters, trunk, rear shelf. We did find that this car in fact had a vinyl top. There are a bunch of imperfections on the top. Thought we may need to do a "coast to coast".
Monday, I'll start blocking the top. Thanks again Clark

Man Kurt, that is indeed a lot of work in a short period of time. You're my hero! Way to go after it with a vengeance. I hope to follow your pattern on my 71 Convertible in a couple years.

Keep it up! Luv the progress and updates!
