Default New best

Finally made it to the track this past weekend, first run since I changed up the rear gears from 3.50 to 3.89 and converter from 3200 stall to 4300 stall. Times as follows:
60' new 1.53, old best 1.68
1/4 new 11.23 at 118.2, old best 11.39 at 117.6

Extremely hot and 98 degrees with humidity

Total weight with me in it 4300 #.
With some tuning etc. hope to hit high 10's

I sent my old ten inch back to Peter at Continental for re stall, sayed he kept it a tight as possible, and he is right driving on the street no real difference. I also have to get used to the 3.89 as the RPMS come up real quick trying to shift at 5900 and I hit the rev limiter ( 6300 ) out of first, going thru the traps at about 6050 rpm instead of 5500 before.

Well, just based on you're 60' increase alone you should be right at 11.19 or a little better, maybe 11.15. Whatever you pick up in 60" you should be 2-2.5 better at 1320. That's a good increase and 10's may be just around the corner. Congrats in the new best, good job!

What rear tire u running? I have contemplated about sending mine back in for another re stall closer to 4-4200, just not sure how well it will work with my current 3.42 gearing on the street. track I am not worried .

Darby, that was my recomendation at the time, and it will work fine with 3.42 gears on the street at your vehicle weight. You already ditched the dual plane intake and q-jet, so why worry about fuel economy and efficiency? Get the 4200 stall deal and go faster!.....Cliff

I know cliff I remember and when i talked with kris he thought at my weight it might be a little loose for reg driving etc with the gears that is why we tried the 36-3800 first. I still like good fuel economy,lol.. cause i still drive my car whenever i can. it still is getting between 12-14 with the holley and torker 2!..I finally got this combo figured out some and starting winning some rounds and moving up hate to screw that up with a new setup again! lol... well see how it plays out tho.

If you continue to use the T-II intake, it's going to LOVE the 4200 stall version of the Continental 10" converter.

Getting heavy street/strip cars to run really quick is easier when your get them to move out of the gate hard enough to give the driver a nosebleed! That leave "soft" finish "hard" stuff requires a LOT of top end charge, which means big HP and lots of RPM's. It's up to you to get it too hook, but when you do hook it up with mid 1.5 60' times, every single run will be well into the 11's with as much power as your new engine makes!.....Cliff

Cliff I will see how the points thing keeps going and then decide from there, if anything pull it after racing and then send it in and try and get it back before it closes or be ready for some mid 11's in the spring!..
