Default Out of the barn finally 1971 LeMans convertible

I drove my 71 LeMans vert from the barn to the garage this morning, poor car has not been up to the house for about 3 years because of other things that needed be to be done around here. Now it can get a well deserved cleaning, updating and cam change along with a trans rebuild and engine painting. Tomorrow the hood comes off and we start to remove the engine and trans. I gave it a bath before I took the pics, yeah I know the engine compartment is dirty yet but that will be fixed soon.
Today was also the day to store the 86 Fiero GT for the winter. Come on Spring!

I forgot to get a head on shot of the car, so this pic will have to do. ACK, hood open.
Also a pic of the exhaust tips.

Thanks for the nice posts guys. I have had the car since 1977, 3 days before I got out of High School. Some of the parts on the car will not be on the build sheet, but what the heck, it's my car.
We took the hood off the car this morning and stored it. This week I start unbolting the engine for it's updating.
More pics as I get them......

the motor is out and the engine bay looks awfully empty. I start tearing into the motor to night
One other question for you 71 guys, below there is a pic of the head casting. Is this right #96 on the head? The reason I ask is that the motor when I got it had a 2 bbrl on it. I thought that 96 heads only came on 4 bbrl motors. I looked around a bit and #98 heads come on 2 bbrl 455 engines.
can someone steer me right?

96 heads came on 400 cid 4 bbl engines.
98 heads were on 455 2 bbl engines.
66 heads would be on 455 4 bbl heads.

With that said, the pic could be showing 98 heads?
When you take the heads off it will be easy to determine if 96 or 98 head.

With rust and corrosion it can be hard to discern 8's, 6's, and 9's sometimes.

Yeah those are 99 heads that came on 1971 400 2 barrel engines. They have the smaller valves also. I have a set just like those that came off my car and it is originally a 1971 400 2 barrel engine. Have since switched to 16 big valve heads.

Thanks guys, that is the info I need. I will be pulling the heads, I can't remember what I had done to them in 1985. Hopefully it was stainless steel valves and hardened seats. If not then it will be so now.
