Just a question on the center carb in the pictures. To me the center carb appears to have a fuel filter and large hex nut in the air horn where the fuel line attaches. Is that correct for a "real" 66 tri-power center carb? I have a 65 set-up and my air horn doesn't have this. Seems odd that GM would have an in-line filter for all three carbs plus an extra filter inside the center carb air horn.

The TH-400 doesn't have linkage for kickdown control. All the TH-400 has is a manifold vacuum line going to the modulator and an electrical kickdown switch that hooks up to the accelerator pedal under the dash.

Some GM cars and trucks equipped with the TH400 use a kickdown switch at the carb, my '70 Chevy C20 has one located there.
Since all auto trans GTO Tri-Power cars had the 2-speed ST-300 which used an electric kickdown switch mounted on the carb it would be easy to use that switch to operate the TH-400 kickdown. |
