Currie vs moser 9 inch rear
Anyone has any experiences with either a Currie or moser 9 inch? I’ve “ built” the rear I wanted in both their respective websites, and the price is about the same.
Just seeing if anyone has experience with either one? Even if not a 9 inch, the companies products or rearends in general.

I have used Moser and strange, both great companies and never had a failure with any of there products. Never used Currie but haven't ever heard of any issues with them either.

been using Currier 9 in my TA for 20+ years now, no problems
only regret is not going better axels, 1350U, and with a spool, but then again didn't have $ back then nor anywhere near the power i have now (not that its a lot anyway) if you have some $$... man.... those MW 3rd members look sweet as heck.... but my pockets aren't that deep the one thing i really liked about adding the 9 was it is heavier than the 10bolt i had, and really helped balanced the car out not to mention, swapping 3rd members and axels really isn't to bad (at least from what i heard and see on Youtube videos), so it does give options i also heard there are some 3rd members that have a 12bolt pinion angle, thus making them more "efficient"?????????????????????????? |

Converted from the Big Ford Drum Brake flanges to the Torino Flanges so that I could run the Explorer Rear Disc Brake rotors and calipers. 4 wheel disc on the car now. The Currie stuff is California Based and cheaper on shipping for the west coast guys. Moser is in the midwest and shipping is better for people on the east coast and central USA. Currie makes a fine 9" I just bought the Moser stuff 20 years ago. Make sure you deside what you are doing on brakes. I had my axles cut shorter to fit the disc brakes and it took the lathe 6 hours per axle to cut each axle shorter. Those Moser axles are some HARD AXLES. Tom V.

Holy moly, are you making 1200 Hp? That rear is very stout.

Quick Performance has made a real name for themselves. I'd price the rear with them.

I have bought a lot of stuff from Quick Performance. They are my go to company for 9" parts.
Bought my Moser Aluminum Thru Bolt center section from them. Along with Moser 40 spline, star flange gun drilled axles. Pro gears, spool, bearing kit with billet 1340 yoke. Welded in a back brace that goes full length of my axle tubes, bought that from Jegs. Had to do all this after I bent both axle tubes forward and broke Mark Williams 31 spline axles. |

You are only the second person I have read about who had issues with the Mark Williams 31 spline axles.
The back brace is a valid mod on any drag race assumed rear axle, be it Ford/GM/Early Pontiac. Tom V.

I bought a moser housing and 31 spline axle package for my 67 Lemans about 15 years ago. I believe it was about $1K with shipping. It had the big ford bearings and flanges that fit the stock 67 drum brakes.
You can source the 3rd member from somebody else if you find it cheaper. I do suggest buying a complete 3rd from QT, Strange, Currie, etc and not piecing one together. I tried to do that and had issues, because the used N center section was tweaked and wouldn't run quiet. I went with a Currie 3rd member and it's been great for years. Once I got it set up, it's been flawless behind a 400 on nitrous. Heck I went through 2 transmissions and hurt the engine, but the Ford 9 is fine. Just keep in mind that some aftermarket no-hop bars and control arms won't fit the Ford 9" because the shape of the housing is different than a stock 8.2 or 8.5".

Strange S-60 is the best.

I suppose it is, if you can carry the extra weight of the S-60, as you will probably never kill it in anything you build.

I run a dana 60 myself with ford ends for explorer disc brakes. Its heavy but ill deal with it. Strange spool and axles 35 spline.
But whoever you go with would suggest using the same for axles and center so they match. I watched a truck have a bad accident at the track due to differant axles on a spool and one of the set of splines gave away and sent the truck in a bad turn at over 100 mph.

Very Good advice there.
A friend Racer was running 35 spline axles and one axle failed and he went into the left wall. A few weeks later, The other side failed, so he hit the wall again but not as bad. So you can have failures with given parts. He made a lot of passes running Super Street. He went with 40 spline axles and a different spool/gear. Ford rear axle. Tom V.
