Does TEXAS require you inspect the old cars? Run a current tag?
I noticed the two windshield stickers on the first page shot. |

Thanks, guys!
I wasn't gonna post yet because I have yet to receive my copy! Jeff - Texas doesn't require safety inspections on cars that are registered as an antique. However, if the antique vehicle registration laws are strictly enforced, an antique car can only be driven in parades, shows, etc. The upside to that is that one only needs to register the car once every five years, and of course no safety inspection. However, since I regularly drive my Pontiacs for pleasure, I decided to register them as "classic" cars, which requires a yearly registration renewal AND an annual safety inspection. My darned Nov HPP had better show up in today's mail! Most of the guys around here got their copies on Monday!

Say, is that "Round Port Warriors 455 HO" logo a new T-shirt design, by any chance? If so, count me in for a couple.

Congrats on the feature Lloyd! I got my issue on Tues. Very nice car.
I just repainted my '72 WW5 last week. I'm color sanding her and getting ready to buff it out and then go for a drive across the country for a month to really enjoy it! Enjoy yours and come to Phoenix sometime, will you? Question, the article mentions that 455HO GTOs had HO id in the rear as yours does. Where is this proven? My first 455HO I bought in '77. It had original paint and did not have an ho on the trunk lid. Steve Barcak www.pontiacheaven.org "Real Pontiacs only...no corporate nonsense!"

Thanks for the compliments! It means a lot coming from someone with another '72, especially a WW5 car as nice as yours. I can't promise when, but I'm definitely coming to Phoenix, hopefully sooner than later! That "GTO H.O." deck lid callout is correct for WW5 cars only, but I like that look and installed one of my NOS decals on my car, just for fun. Here's a scan from my '72 dealer order album, concerning the WW5 option package. Please note the very bottom line . . . My GTO has every option on that list except 714. Mine has gauges and clock, instead of gauges and tach.

Lloyd and others- I am still not 'sold' that HO or WW5 GTOs had a "ho" on the trunk lid. All that your above postt states is that there was HO ID. It doesn't say what it is exactly or where it was located.
Does anyone here own an original paint '72 455HO GTO with or without WW5? Or did anyone buy one new or see one new? My first WW5 GTO was bought from the original owner in '77. Only 5 years old and original paint. There was no HO ID on the trunk. I got the window sticker from the car and everything. I was only 17 in '77 but was well aware of what I had bought. I do have many pictures of it from '77 through '81 when I sold it ( that was a mistake to do). I would think more conclusive proff is needed before saying HO decals are put on the trunks of certain GTOs from the factory and , thus, correct. There was a black or red proto type '72 HO that was used by the press in late '71, it thad the HO on the trunk but, that was a preproduction car and , therefore, could nott be considered a valid reference. Still looking for verifyable proof that 72 GTOs and/or WW5 GTOs had the HO on the trunk lid. Restoration books are not proof either. I have never seen a referance restoration book without misprints of some sort. any real proof out there? Steve Barcak www.pontiacheaven.org "Real Pontiacs only...no corporate nonsense!"
