Default Cleaning Windshield Trim

Anyone have a recommendation on the best product to use to clean the front windshield and back window trim? I just had the windshield and rear window removed in my ‘64 Grand Prix in order to get ready for body and paint. The factory chrome/stainless trim is gunky from the compound, glue and whatever else was used to seal the weatherstripping and the windows to the car.

If there’s something that will dissolve (or least soften) the gunk without damaging the trim, please let me know. Thank you!

Fine steel wool and elbow grease.....then take a Dremel tool with a buffing pad attached and some Mother’s mag wheel polish ....and make that stainless shine like chrome. If some green horn ran a DA with 80 grit over the stainless...you can sand those scratches out...and buff it up !
