Travis, you left out a Greg Holt quote. "Hold my glasses, I don't want to see what's about to happen!" Before his first pass with our turbo setup on his ProMod.

Another GH funny quote. He used to tune for a lot of blown ProMod teams. One job, the arrogant driver was strapped in, hollers to Greg, "Hey, you got this thing set on kill?" Greg sticks his head inside the car and says, "Yea, when you get it in high gear, go ahead and hit the fire bottles." The driver's eyes got as big as half dollars inside his helmet!

Greg was full of them!! LOL

I remember one time in particular when we were at Aiken, SC...car was a little loose. Well, maybe a LOT loose. Went to the other end to get him, he was still sitting in the car, parachutes still lying on the ground behind him. I walked up to the car and opened the door and asked him if he was alright...he replied, "Can I open my eyes yet?" We had a big laugh at that one.

A friend and I used to swap rides from time to time...usually after making a change... Always one upping each other. He went on 2nd shift for quite awhile...I hadnt seen him for months... finally run in to him at a TT day... wasnt payin attention to his times I was sortin my launch after a convertor change... I did notice his car sounded meaner...asked him if he changed cams... he says "yeah...want to try it?".. Sure why not... keep in mind I was runnin 11.7-11.8 and he was last I knew runnin the same.

I get in line... come out of the water and knew there was more than a cam change... as I stage he tells me "shift on the lite" "just launch on the foot brake"... "oh and hang on"... uh oh he never said that before... Well I launch and good grief what a hit...nose never came that high before...saw the shift light but I was on limiter before I could move the shifter and I was movin...3rd came way sooner than I expected...I was nervous to say the least... wow the stripe already... that first cut off is here quick...I was brakin hard... My right leg was shakin goin down the return road... 10.2x/130 somethin ... SOB replaced his 440(Mopar) with a 511 inch Indy headed motor. Yep he changed the cam...

Steppin up a second and a half unexpectedly sure got my attention. At least I was fairly familiar with the car....My car sure seemed boring after that.

That reminds me all too much of our nitrous days. Jamie Wayne would not be impressed. LOL

Last car I built was 31 ford sedan with BBC 502 with brodix heads, EFI, TSI TH400, ford 9" w3.50 gears. Think...4 wheel Ducati. Drove it in high gear only. Sold it. Death wish.

There was a very dangerous crosswind that day, not only pushing the cars but blowing sand on the track towards the top end.

There was nothing Steve could have done to save the car that day, and he was one of the best. RIP...

Mine a bit tamer but a fenderless 31 Ford coupe 455/6x/tunnel ram etc, 400 tranny, 9" with 4:11s/full spool ran open headers on the street a lot.... A white knuckles ride in the rain ! A disaster at best...

The first pass after I built my 455 (had a tired 350), and went from 13.40's to mid/high 11's was quite the eye opener. I may have sharted a bit on that one!!

I am all ready concerned and I have not made it to the track yet. But that is about to change on April 5th. Have rented (along with other guys) VMP for the day to see what I have or do not have. Totally new combination.

I got my adrenalin (SP) going after putting the 505 in my 60....went from low 11's to 10 flats..122 to 135 MPH....bingo !! But what a rush.. car doesn't like cross winds.
Just threw my 505 from 60 in a car weighing 900-1000 lbs LESS...
Bout to find out if I get the Chit scared out of me...doubful...been around too long..I call it controled fear..
I generaly lift before the point of no return..if brain is working..
Shake down runs are always interesting..

Now...on the other hand....some of the 7 & 8 second rides....would be the exception..I think

Good luck Richard ..hope car hooks..
Wish I could justify the trip down to watch & run myself.
It's a long trip for me not knowing if car will even make it down the track on full passes..
I'm headed for Mason Dixon on the 6th...

Yep....I was surprised at how 10-12 MPH faster could feel so much different !!...and ET change with 505 in 60..If all goes according to "key board" calculators I should duplicate that again....A chute is my next option...a rule requirement or not..!
I expect GP to be just a little more aero..

Yeah about 20 years ago,my first turbo combo Pontiac engine,in a little 2500lb car ,totally mismatched suspension/converter/cam/turbo selection,it used to launch like a stunned slug with no boost at all 'til about 3500 rpm then at 3501 rpm it instantly had 15psi of boost! It caught me out one time when I reached over to switch on the water injection(I'd forgot to turn it on) just as the boost came in and I did a full 360 spin backwards into the guardrail. My mates nicknamed the car Armcosurfer after that.
