Enjoy a better than stock Gardner Exhaust that , well, is Stock aside from Better exhaust tips.. look how much you have into your air cleaner.. your car deserves the Gardner..
Tip: don't collect seconds or thirds of parts you have and concentrate on getting it done!
The research is fun, but can cost money that now isn't buying exhaust... just my humble opinion.

Well I figured I'd update this thread, recently an old stock SR set came up for a great deal here on the forum, and they were quickly snapped up;
At the same time another later made (same number) set had been on eBay for about a month, and those too recently sold.

You can see between the two that the way they were manufactured DID indeed change.

The early ones have (as previously shown in this discussion) the part number stamped up on the small collar of the pipe, while the later ones have the part number stamped on the top rear edge.
The early ones are also a mandrel type bend (I don't know what it would be called; the pipe diameter does not reduce), while the later ones have a reduction in the bend.

The following images are of the older stock SR tips:

Since I can only upload five images per post, I am continuing from my last reply;

The following images are of the later SR tips to see the differences:

ok, other than the number stamping, here is a side by side.

Since the forums resizes images, go back and look at the larger images, and you will see it.

I believe that in addition to them being manufactured with the compression bend, that the later ones are lower quality - it's only the later ones that seem to have rust problems.

Kitty gave his OK on them. the chrome plating is really excellent. I can't see any defects. Its a bright, deep, and smooth finish.
I can post some more pictures, thanks to unruhjonny for the instructions on posting pictures.

Ignacio, if you want to cut down a set, you would have to use/find a set of '74s. Re-cutting the angle on a set of '71-3 would make them too short.

On a side note, I wonder how many different versions were NOS? I have the later units stamped (part number)FT. Others stamped NJ(part number)(2 places) and NK(part number).

it looks to me like there are two versions or SR exhaust extensions - or possibly three version in total.

1) OEM - likely unstamped; no reduction in bend

2) 1st SR - number stamped on collar; no reduction in bend; appear to be dead ringers for OEM part

3) 2nd SR - number stamped at top/rear of pipe; reduction through bend
