Default Going back to solid rollers

Yeh I'm another victim of noisy hydraulic roller lifters.I thought the new version of the lunati lifters would be the end all cure all of the noise.Im willing to try a different lash setting technique that was recommended on this site, and that was to bottom plunger out then lash up 1/2 to 1 turn.Any input on this procedure is welcomed.

Those short travel Johnson lifters have been the best ones I've tried so far. I also like and run the Crower Solid lifters for years with no issues.

I just installed the new Comps in a motor 2 weeks ago and they adjusted well and make zero noise.

Lunatis work fine w a small trough ground into the body with a burr bit should you have to do this no. However I believe it will quiet your
Lifters as it has done a
Few sets I have dealt with and others. There is a thread buried in this section that shows this being successful many years ago I do not
Recall who the gentleman was that “pioneered” this morel fix
And to be fair I had to similarly modify some
Crower solid rollers for My ia1 almost 20 years ago
In each instance the lifter gets more
Oil to the top end and
Quiets down considerably in my humble
Opinion

BAM solid roller lifters with DLC option .

Good enough for big power Drag Week guys.
Have not heard a bad thing about them. They are based on a high end Crane lifter that is not available anymore.

will the grooved lifter bore mod do the same as the raised port?
or is it that a part of that feed hole is in the full diameter body

Yes it is probably the better option. it’s just more involved (motor apart) and it’s forever or atleast until
You bush the lifter bores
The notch made a huge improvement in quieting down these lifters and getting oil to the springs at idle
The set that I did that has the most miles on them we bought used w a new Howard’s hr, and it probably has about 1500-2000 miles since leaving my garage not a huge sample but a nice start
The second set I did on my
Motor probably only 300 miles so jury still
Out these are on an xr288

Hey MM, how do you clean those lifters up after cutting the groove in them?
I’ve got a noisy pair setting on my bench that I’ve been messing with. I can’t seem to get the parts out of the inside because the link bar rivet is in the way. Am I missing anything?

Thanks
Murf
