Default Ram Air Four Carb

I am A 64--67 GTO Guy so do not hang out here much. Trying to help a friend of mine that is restoring a 1969 GTO back to original for a nice driver. His Motor is a 1969 YS, the Carb on the car is 7029270 I think if i looked up right is a 1969 Ram air 4. The correct carb would be 7029268. If this is true he would like to have the right carb for the car, what is the Ram air carb worth and what should he expect to pay for the right carb and where would I find a nice core, I can rebuild the carb just need a nice core! Here are some pictrues of the carb on the car Number 7029270 only other number I found was 7044620. Like I said no expert on these cars, just trying to help a friend! THANKS!

I think the money on the 268 carb will be around 250-350 range and you should get somewhere around 800 -1000 for the ram iv carb.

I've got a nice 7029268 core I bought a few years ago but never got around to doing anything with because it was easier to just leave the current carb on the car. I'll dig it up tonight if i get a chance. You can email me at gto4evr@roadrunner.com

Your friends 7029270 is a Delco Service Replacement unit.
Nowere near the value of an original factory 7029270, still, a very nice carb.

I think it was noted in the price R4K gave as a SR carb, but just not stated?

A 69 AT correct production dated pick code RA IV only would be twice? and add 100% for a 9273??

highly unlikely that a Service Replacement '69 RAIV auto carb would sell for $1000 to an educated buyer unless NOS in the box. about $350 is realistic for an SR 270.

How can you tell a service replacement from the original? Is it the "100" after the carb number?

Assuming there is a “4” after the 100?

Carb prices overall have probably taken more of a beating than any other component. A few years ago the SR carbs still brought decent money but original brought obnoxious money. Both have dropped significantly.

I bought a couple SR carbs in the last 18 months and $500 is the most paid for a clean core.

Quick check on EBay alone came up with a couple sold in the 350 to 500 range. The one in this thread is probably closer to the top end because it is off a running engine.

Talked with my friend last night he is the 3rd owner of the car, the two owners before said nothing was ever done to the car. He told me he is ok with the SR carb since it is the right year! We are going to rebuild it. THANKS for all the great info!
