Default Round port header gasket recommend

Looking for header gasket recommendation. 2" round port hedmann e heads. Gaskets I got from butler already leaking center ports and rear on ds. Because race setup not wanting to goop up w sealant. Thinking may have better luck w copper or aluminum style gasket.

Copper sucked for us. Leaked everywhere. We've used felpro for the last 3 years. No leaks. Mad dogs w/E heads. We used copper sealant to glue to header. Now we take them on and off all the time with no issues. Same gaskets for 3 years.

Are you using Remflex on the turbo car ? .... and stainless flanges, right ?

Do the gaskets expand with heat? I've read that they require little to no torque on the header bolts/studs.. What's your take on them in general?

Kris.

I am, though mine are d-ports and still on the first set installed in the car. I tightened them like I would a normal header, checked to see if they loosened up a couple times but all was good so I stopped checking. They compress quite a bit, not sure about expanding. I was so pleased with them I recommended them to my buddy after he lost 2 sets in his Pontiac powered Chevelle and that was the last set he bought. Everyone says they're definitely not reusable, but until you break the seal they work great! I'd give them a try.

I've had good luck with Ultra Gray sealant. Color matches the heads and not bad to get off if you need to remove the headers and reinstall.

I use copper RTV with good luck and it's cheap.

I sure would be nice if someone made us a heads gasket in dead soft aluminum.

I have used the Fel Pro Race gaskets and they work just fine. The Mr Gasket race are ok. The worst are the plain white cheap ones you get with your Hooker headers. The center ones always blow out.
Currently I have copper in the center ports and old Fel Pros on the outside.
Maybe the iron HO heads help with the copper not leaking. Biggest problem I have ever had was the driver side #8 ear that "sticks out in the air" rusting itself in the head and rounding off. Believe me, heating the ear up red hot with a torch and using brand new Vice Grips was not fun. Took about 5-6 tries at it. Beoing a welder you know heating up cast iron to that extent, with the rest of the iron not being so hot creates a heat line and it can....... crack. But all ended up OK.
Now I run the ARP stainless header bolts with the 5/16 heads on the ones that stick "out in the air". They are very smooth and dont seem to stay as tight as carbon steel bolts but I am not going through that again. On all the very outside exhaust bolts, the ones that end up with iron on the backside I just run plain grade 8 bolts with 9/16 heads. They always come out.
These expensive Remflex, how expensive are they ?

Re-tight the header bolts seems to fall on deaf ears ?
Hey, I'm missing a header bolt. When did that fall out ?
Guess where !
