I like Remflex gaskets.
I did blow one out one time, but it was clearly my fault. Didn't get nearly enough "crush" on the center 2 exhaust ports on a set of "6X" heads (because d port heads and headers/bolts are a PITA). Replaced the gasket and got it tightened down enough the second time, never another issue.

I use the felpro performance header gaskets, because they seal good and do not leak. Years ago when I was running D-ports I was able to reuse them many times. Recently I installed some new felpro performance round port header gaskets and had to remove the headers for maintenance shortly after installing them, and the gaskets split, unlike in the past when they came off in one peice and were reusable.

I cut my gaskets in 3 pieces before I install them. That way when I take them off, some or all of the gaskets are still usable. I hang the good ones that I dont end up using on a nail on the wall in the garage. That way I have "extra" just in case. I do the same thing with intake gaskets. I use some Aviation around the intake runners as it does not harden and #2 around the water crossover part. They still rip most of the time coming off. But I save that little coolant crossover part from used ones or just some cheap generic intake gaskets on the same nail. My intake and header gaskets are a "mix" most of the time.
You never know. Might get caught on a Saturday nite late with a race on Sunday. Saved a few Pontiac racers day at the track doing this when they had issues. Had a quick fix for them. |

Have Remflex on the street cars, but haven't put them on either of our drag cars because don't want the expense or the time needed to scrape them off the heads and headers. There was only one time that we were able to remove a set without them coming apart, but the other half dozen times they have separated at the screen center portion with half sticking to the header and half to the head. I plan to run for years with the street cars, but just maintenance on the drag cars says they will be coming off at least at the end of the season. I've come across missing bolts and many loose bolts without the Remflex blowing out or even leaking, and that's something we've never accomplished with any other brand.

Remflex work great, but you have to be very careful when installing headers, as they damage very easy. They are like a thin water cookie.
I put it on the head, then cover it with another paper type gasket to protect it while aligning the header. Once lined up just slide out the paper gasket. |

Another vote for Remflex. Never had a header gasket seal like them!
