I've been using a GZ for years without any issues. Works great and easy business to talk to and work with. Just purchased another GZ pump. Just a step up from my original.

In looking at the pictures in this thread, it looks like most do not run a separator tank before the pump. You dont have issues with oil getting in the pump?

The star pump system is oil tank/seperator tank in one and its plumbed in before the pump

I use a Moroso pump, they say oil is recommended.

Decide to give a GZ a try. I think with my front area it will fit better with their bracketry also. They say also their pumps like a little oil. I think I found a place to mount the tank beside the radiator overflow in front in a fender brace lip.

Their mandrel is held in by the crank/balancer bolt vs bolting to the pulley. Will have to see how that looks when it gets here.

I tried all the different baffles and gave up and made my own. Welded a small plate in valve cover with open ends, put a bung on top - No more oil bath

I'm going to try GZ's baffler breather first, and use a sealed oil fill cap in the other cover.

Anyone every rig up a tire valve to pressurize (1PSI recommended) to test the seal of the engine for leaks?

Placement of where you pull vacuum from is key. Ask me how I know.

i did exactly as you suggest with a small regulator and some adapters to mate it up to #12 line. I used a ball valve in line too, so i could test and preset the regulator. I used 10 psi i think. too much psi could push the valve cover gaskets, main seal, or other gaskets out. the valley cover was tough to seal for me at the dizzy side. only found it by doing the pressurization and chasing the leaks with glass cleaner or dish soap solution.

Thanks for the input. Did you use a GZ mandrel/pulley?

I have always used just a leak down gauge... crank the regular up some then some soap and water in a squirt bottle... you will find bubbles (air leaks)

Biggest spot I ran into was the welds on my canton oil pan... nothing a finger tip of best stuff didn't cure...

Here is mine... works great ...

As far as mandrels are concerned, imo the best one out there is made by Star... it has splines as you can see and a hex end so you can turn the engine over with a wrench...
