Finally painted -- 68 GTO
Hello all, I thought I would post a couple photo's of the progress on the goat. The car has been off the road for 6 years for a frame off and last Sunday I was finally able to paint. The flourescent lights don't do the color justice (looks more orangish) than it really is. At this point the body work looks pretty straight, so the endless block sanding paid off.
The color is called (hot red) which is a Ford color that I saw on a 69 Camaro w/black vinyl top. I have a red interior so I needed a color that was lipstick red rather than a orange. My car will also have a black vinyl top, which it originally had. So now the fun begins, I will start color sanding this weekend........... Last edited by goatman-68; 11-13-2007 at 09:57 PM. |

That looks incredible. There is no feeling like it when you can paint it on your own. The color is just amazing too. Great Job!!

That looks like a really nice paint job! Your bodywork looks straight also.
Your right, now the fun part begins & you can start to see some progress. Good luck with this project & keep the pics coming as you start putting it together. Brent |

Looks great and what a color! It really popped out with that color and the bodywork looks awesome. You give me hope that one day my board sanding will be complete and it will be ready for painting. I just completed the first phase with 120 grit and I'm starting this Saturday on the 220 grit phase since I just sprayed to more thin coats of primer filler on her.
thanks for the pics keep them coming. Brian |

Gives me chills every time I see one painted in a guy's garage. THAT'S what this hobby is about - the great American do-it-yourselfer!
goatman-68, I salute you My modest effort:

Thanks for the compliments, it has been a messy project and my floor in the shop has suffered from it. I don't think I would ever paint another (complete) car in my garage due to lack of light and proper ventilation. A spray booth would make it much more fun.............

Man, that is razor straight. I usually don't care for red on a Goat because it's so common but that car really pops and with a red interior it'll look awesome.

Goatman - great job! I hope my 68 looks this straight when I am done. I am so close to being ready for paint I get frustrated because it is getting too cold now. I to live in Wisconsin near Milwaukee so maybe you can come by sometime and finish mine!

Ya Know....
It is posts like this that push me closer and closer to striping down my half a$$ed painted Goat (that I paid someone else to paint) and redo it in my garage. That looks outstanding!!!
