Default "You know you are an aggressive driver when..."

I'm not at liberty to say what made me think of these:

You know you are an aggressive driver when:

...you are behind a "Jimmy John's" delivery guy and he is going too slow.

...you keep wearing out rear tires. On your diesel pickup.

...the person in front of you stops for a yellow light that, if he had gone, you would have followed him through.

...the car in front of you has a bumper sticker and you think "yeah, I wish you were driving a Titleist, too".

I was horrible as a youngster but as I have aged I realized that the stress just wasn't worth it. I get stuck behind tractors and combines where I live more than other cars but I have learned to just go with the flow and keep my blood pressure down.

Aggressive is when that guy stops, you're the 3rd guy back, you switch lanes, and you DO go thru!

Usually all 3 guys change lanes and go thru. The first 2 guys aren't so bad. The 3rd guy, he's aggressive!

Like Mark and pontibeast, I too have gotten way less aggressive as I've aged, and have never done the above. But have seen it many times.

LOL! That's true. Now I feel better about myself!

I usually set the cruise to go about 5 or 6 mph over the limit. I marvel that some days I seem to be the fastest thing on the road, and other days I seem to be the slowest thing on the road.

I also seem to always get behind the person that (apparently) has never been to a McDonalds before....

Why is it that the slow pokes are always in front of me and the tailgaters always behind?

I believe it was the great philosopher and theologian George Carlin that said: "Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?"

My issue is that when I'm driving, I actually am driving. Soooo many drivers out there are not....piloting their car is about number 4 on their list of what they're doing----texting, talking with their hands, putting on makeup, or reading the paper. I get around and away from these people as soon as I can.

I'm a 72mph on the cruise control guy. No hurry here. I stay in the right lane unless I'm passing. PISSES me off when somebody doesn't keep a constant speed. When I drive, I'm driving. I know what's going on in front of me and behind me.
It scares me, the generation of drivers brought up on these newer cars. All of the new "nannies". Lane departure. Blind spot warning. Radar braking. etc
Those things can be useful but I can see a day coming when drivers expect the car to do it and then we'll be faced with cars that pilot themselves. It's coming.
Everybody should start driving with a car old enough to have no turn signals and a 3 speed on the column..........

I always find it annoying when somebody in a BMW or a (insert car name here) decides they are going to intimidate me on the road by following too close. It's amazing how quickly my drop hitch can slow down.

Like most of you, I must be one of the slowest guys on the highway these days - I would hardly recognize myself if I was 21 again.

I do that as well.

Often I'll look around and notice there will be a slug of traffic in front of me; a big open space; me (with nobody around), a big open space; and then a bunch of traffic behind me.

It happens kinda subconsciously.

You know you are an aggressive driver when:

Your grille has bits of spandex in it

Your tire sidewalls have other cars body paint on them

You add Sharpie notch marks on your front fender regularly

You have large hold up postcards with all the common expressions preprinted

Dogs know the sound of your exhaust and run

The push bars on your front bumper are for green light car ahead assistance

this is my issue as well. it used to be that driving a 4000lb vehicle was something that people paid attention to. today, as you say, it's just 'what' they are doing while they text, talk on the phone, eat their breakfast, talk to passengers, look at their email, etc. the cell phone has been the #1 worst contributor to driving skills ever. so many damn distractions and so many people who can't multi-task trying to do them all. commuting to work is now just an utter annoyance surrounded by self-absorbed assholes.

I haven't modified one in 50 years, but a really excellent deterrant to tailgaters is a pair of spark plugs in the tailpipe extenders, wired to a Ford model T spark coil with a switch on the dash! Push in the clutch, blip the engine, and hit the switch! It probably wouldn't work with the computerized fuel injected non-cars of today. Does that qualify as aggressive?

How come the drivers that are in such a hurry to cut me off drive like slugs once they are in front of me?

My favorite is the Prius drivers who punch it when you try to pass - talk about bringing a wet noodle to a gunfight!
