The Indy 500 wheels were made by Foresight Ventures in Oakland California from 1965 to 1969 ish. If you look back through some very early GM development shots, you will see these wheels on a full size clay model in the research and development department. It took me forever and a day to try and find a set. They are so damn rare and hard to get a hold of, but I finally got a set last year and restored them at no spared expense. They are a solid one piece aluminum rim that look very much like a Hurst wheel, but they are trim ring less deep dish. Foresight also made a fat lip version of this rim which I have only seen two of in my life.

Because of the cost of Hurst wheels, there are many like kind alternatives to consider. Here are a few...

Guys -
My intention is not to show off, but thanks regardless. I'm a blue collar worker who has a fetish for vintage crap that is a bad investment. I hope that makes you feel better.

RELAX, we're messing with you! You've got a garage full of cool stuff there, we all dig it!
Your pictures are like porn, have you ever heard of a guy complaining about porn?

I'm totally relaxed Boss, I was pulling your leg just as much as you were mine. I love car porn. The problem is I'm the only one who is getting screwed...
Now this is showing off below. I have redlines out the door to match the wheels and may or may not one day mate with the rims. My girl like shoes just like any other hooker. |

To put this thread back on the Hurst topic. I thank you for your kind considerations as I pee on this thread.
Here is a version of Hurst wheels where as I did a double powder coating treatment of red and silver. It's difficult to do such a double coating because you have to coat the entire wheel with silver, then mask the spokes, spray powder, and then literally finger wipe the raised ridges on the spokes to clean the powder off before baking. Bake and pray you don't have color over spray or bubbles that leach out of the aluminum as impurities. Needless to say, this process is not for the faint of heart because you screw up one process in many, you start over. Thankfully, I got it in one try. There are some small imperfections that you learn to live with as you realize - if you want perfect, stand, wait and open all your holes and say AHHHH... John Delorean did have good taste. Take a look at some early 1965 pictures of the Banshee sporting Foresight Venture wheels.

New photos
Now that I have the transmission back in mine, here's a few updated photos from today.
The wheels have just been restored (by me) and the correct push on style trim rings are fresh from the chrome shop. The new redlines are from Diamond Back. Try to ignore the paint and body.... just try to imagine what it'll look like in it's original Fontaine Blue. ...one of these days... [sigh]...

Trust me, it's a sixty-footer! It needs some work. I hate that color. It was like that when I bought it.
The tires are 225/70R 14s.

I super like the shots and it really shows the time and effort into getting to that point of restoration. Truly images worth posting and thanks for doing so...
