I am going to warm up the area a bit and lay a piece of flat bar where I want to flatten and tap the flat bar with a hammer.
I will cut a circle out of cardboard using a header tube as the circle and use that to get my 1/4" distance.

You can spend real money on some of these header wraps. Even the ties are not cheap.

Do any of you guys have any experience with header wraps ? Some of this stuff is 800 $$$ !!! for 100 feet.

I was thinking about buying as short a length of wrap as I can and just use some SS hose clamps on the section near the pan.

Does a great job of burning out the pipe on a road race vehicle.

Forget the header wrap, it’s fine as it sits.

Best way to ruin a set of headers, use header wrap. A friend years back had the headers on his 454 BBC dually pickup wrapped, completely destroyed that set of headers.

I realize you’re only wanting to wrap a short section but it’s entirely unnecessary.

You’re good.

OK, thanks. I had no idea it destroys headers. And now, a very expensive set of headers.
Pay 800$ for header wrap on a 1500$ set of headers only to ruin them. Nah.

How much clearance is needed to prevent unwanted heat transfer to the oil? I don't know that number but I'm sure it's been tested and the numbers are out there.

This same concern applies to starters and brake lines.
If you was to sit and let the car idle for all day it might be a problem
Going down the road will cool substancily. my headers are close to and hasn't
caused a problem with mine and it's been that way for years.
I think you'll be fine . JMO
