I have never seen any ram air production numbers for 455 cars.

For some reason the 455 cars are not as highly desirable as Judge cars right now. I guess everyone loves those Judge stickers. They reflect at night you know.

My feeling is they are so seldom seen that alot of people don't know they exist. Which car would you choose, a Ram Air III/4 speed or a Ram Air 455/4 speed?

Thanks guys...One other mistery of these cars is what carburetor was put on them? I was told they had the 7040273 carb's on them, like the Ram Air III and IV cars. While others say the regular HO carb?

Best I can tell, looking at charts in the old MPC carburetor charts, the non Ram Air 1970 455 GTO's used the following PN carburetors.

49 state auto: 7040268
49 state manual: 7040267
California auto: 7040568
California manual: 7040567

No mention is made in these charts concerning Ram Air GTO 455 carbs. However, in the application listings (which admittedly show replacement numbers ONLY), the Ram Air equipped 455's used the exact same carburetor as the Ram Air III and Ram Air IV 400's.

Marty P. sent several carburetors along with the 1970 455 Ram Air automatic GTO I just purchased from him. All but one are obviously NOT the carb which came on this car, but one MIGHT be. It's a 7040570, which in the 1970 carburetor charts shows to be OEM on a California equipped 1970 Ram Air 400.

Maybe Jon, Cliff, Rocky R. or Kenth will stop in and have better info.

Hope this helps!

The 455 cars did use the 7040270,7040273 and the 7045270,705273 CA only carbs if they came equiped with RA. The best way to check which carb your car had is to verify with the build sheet. My 455 HO convert with RA and auto specifies the "WA" carb in the carb square on the build sheet which is the 7040270 and correct for the auto with RA. Those build sheets are nice for determining which part your particular car was built with.
