source for 64 antenna lead wire
something I thought would be easy to find but am striking out everywhere that I'm looking. Anybody know where to find a antenna lead cable with male on both ends to work with the stock radio and antenna? My original cable is about 44" long and is bad. I was able to remove the grommets and am looking for a new cable.

remy, I assume you are talking about the front fender mount manual antenna lead in wire.
Just measured mine that I believe is an original p/n 9775188. Mine measures about 39" from the very tip of the plug at the radio end to the somewhat L shaped connector at the antenna body end. The connector at that end has the "accordion" like boot held on by a small heater hose style spring ring (the type that requires a special pliers to remove). I don't know what it looks like inside the boot. And since the boot isn't quite straight, my "tip to tip" measurement may be off a hair but definitely not off by 5". Only one grommet on mine and it is 23" from the radio end tip to the start of the grommet. The 9775188 was used for all '64-'67 Tempests with manual antenna. I would expect you can find a decent one off a parts car for cheap enough. Here's an NOS one, price is about $300 more than I would cough up for it but it shows the pix of it. He says for power antenna too but that isn't true according to my '66 MPC as near as I can tell. https://www.oldsobsolete.com/product...n-nos-9775188/ If you want to offer $200 I might be persuaded to part with mine! Plus shipping and handling of course. Seriously, I gotta believe you can find a decent used one for a lot less. |

The currently manufactured ones don't have the correct ends on them. I had to buy the whole assy. from Ames to make it work. I have quite a few original antenna bases but without lead wires, they're not usable.

You r right. Mine are MXFM. Could you cut the FM end off and solder a male end on?

Threw out a factory one the same day this was posted. Male ends on both ends.
Factory piece. sorry.

FOUND IT.
It is in good shape.Both ends and It plugs into the factory base which is included. The base is broken where the side bolt goes as it wouldnt come apart.I have saved it for about 9-10 years and got tired of itand a bunch of other stuff just cluttering up my small basement area. PM me if you want to buy it 20 bucks plus 3.5o for USPS flat rate box |
