I bet there is a couple hundred pounds of salt on the car and it doesn't exist today!

I was more confused by the "reverse flow gusher valve cooling". What?

"Reverse flow gusher valve cooling" is legitimate- that's what Pontiac called it in the shop manuals. Except that it's specifically intended for valve seat cooling, to allow non-insert valve seats (merely machine the seats into the cast iron of the heads). The coolant distribution tubes have holes aimed at the backside of each valve seat area.

But I've never a seen a Pontiac reference to "tapered valve guides". I wonder if the guide bores had a slight taper to assure that some oil would enter around the stem?

That's what it is and that's why they called it that. It's also used in some automotive engine theory books. I think Oldsmobile has used the term.

Not just no, but hell no! So years ago "comfortably" really meant "scared to death and in constant danger".

Functions as a diaper too! Can you even imagine?

Of course we didn't have car seats then either.

Back in the 80’s I had a golden retriever despite being rather allergic! Because of that when I had to take her somewhere I just let her hop in the trunk and I’d leave the lid open. No one seemed to care back then, I’d even cross the border to get to our cottage in Maine, 350 miles each way. Dog loved it!

Of course this was the same dog that would jump off our sea wall, run down the beach and swim out into the ocean, she’d be gone for a few hours sometimes. Beyond sight even with binoculars, always wondered what possessed her.

She never swam into a shark or fell out of the trunk and so she passed away at a very ripe for a golden 14 years sleeping in the sun on the sea wall,. May I be so lucky!

My Black Lab Sammy WANTED to ride in the bed of the truck and fought when I went to pick her up to put her in the cab however my Lab Max owned the back seat of my crew cab and got nervous when I put him in the bed.

Still - I don't think hanging on the side of the car would be good for anyone!

I like the mysterious shadows of the adults, ominously projected against the side of the car, like in a Hitchcock movie.

Seems appropriate.

Maybe that was an early version of a "Lane Departure Warning"???

The louder the squalling, the closer you were to the car in the next lane.

The Corvette motorhome seems to be missing a [needed] wheelie bar...
