Default square bore to quadrajet adapter

i have a square bore p4b and would like a 4 hole divided adapter to put a quadrajet on does anyone know of a decently cheap one that works? all the ones i see are for quad intake to square carb and most are all open....

I believe Edelbrock made some P4Bs with QJet flange. Best bet would be to trade your S-bore for a QJet flange one.

BTW, the P4B is basically a copy of the 62 389 SD 4bbl intake.

I didn't say it would be easier. I said it would be your best bet.

Actually, upon reflection, your best bet is to get a stock Pontiac iron Qjet intake.

Spectre makes one. They are available at Auto Zone. Price is around $25. Comes with everything to go spread bore to square bore.

I think Edelbrock has had that design out for a number of years and looks like it is better than the generic open adapter to me. That new Spectre one looks kind of neat with the inserts.

Do you have the hood clearance needed for a spacer?

If this was me, I'd spend half-an-hour with a die grinder and make that manifold into a P4B Q-Jet. The casting you have is already set up for that. The other bolt holes are already there--all you have to do is put a Q-jet base gasket on there, mark where the aluminum can be seen through the holes in the gasket, and then start carving.

Did that to an Olds P4B manifold years ago. Worked fine.

that spacer looks like a nice restrictor plate.

Default That should work

The Holley, Carter AFB, Rcohester 4 Jet and Edelbrock (new Carter) are all square bore carburetors.

yes i have tons of clearence for any spacer or intake.

i thought of opening it up to a quadrajet like you did. but you cant tell in the pic but i laid a quad gasket and there is not enough meat on mine, not even close actually

ill just try the spacer for the time being
