My balanced rotating assembly did not have any balancing info included and was found to be out 9 grams at the front and 12 grams at the rear.

Also to note, all the new “neutral balance” parts were not much better… balancer was out 6 grams while the flywheel was out 12 grams, and pressure plate out 7 grams.

This was from a short block kit that was supposed to be ready to assemble purchased about 20 years ago.

After this I don’t trust that any assembly is ready to run and properly balanced.

OEM-specs were nothing to brag about. Buicks were goofy as all get-out. I have heard--but not confirmed--that Mopar was sloppy about balance.

The only source I know of says that 1970 Pontiac engines were balanced to "within 1/2 inch-ounces".

A half-ounce is about 20 grams. Fine for a grocery-getter. Maybe not adequate for anything that gets run to higher RPM on a semi-regular basis.
