I'm no genius but I don't think scrap prices would give more than about $5.00 to $10.00 for that weight in scrap metal.

Some people just don't listen. Doesn't that sound strange to you ?

GET REAL PEOPLE!!!! It's time to send your letters to POCI. You are the only people that can end this.
Im supposed to go look at a 428 crank for $80.00, assuming its good (not rusted, etc) are they in that much demand, should I buy it ?
I really dont need more Pontiac stuff, but -

Most of them have the same casting number as a late 421 crank and even rusted and needing a complete workover should bring 200 if it will pass mag test

Friend of mine here just paid A$2000.00 for a '69 428 motor. All he really needed was the crank to use in his 421 tripower but he wound up with a standard bore 428 block, fully rebuilt - never run - heads and a few other bits.

Crank was 10thou down and ready to use.

Over here, when you gotta have something there isn't many options so we have to pay the man's rate

Just curious about 428 prices. I been to pontiac heaven last three years in a row. last two years I brought a '69 428 block with standard bore and 4 bolt mains, a std/std crankshaft and a set of GTO #16 heads with only 47,000 miles. I tried to get $600 for everything came down to $500 and not even a bite. I have a complete running '75 455/TH400 with only 82,000 miles. I was asking $800. Came down to $500 and could not get a bite. So lets try again...Whats this stuff worth?

Did he collect ? There was a rip off contractor in my area - he got judgements left & right. He rented a toilet smelling trailer & had a beat to sh*t 80s Ford pickup. Nobody could collect because basically he had nothing.
Its almost a legal form of stealing.

Bruce actually paid the judgement which was $2000. but.... he didn't pay the $225 for court costs, which was part of the judgement. I turned the $225 over to a collection agency and said if you could collect it you could keep it. To think I got two grand out the guy, I was ready to lien his house and whatever. Very surprising.

Later, Matt

your name wasn't mentioned....just the company name :D

I didnt pay a $25 ad to a local paper due to the fact they screwed up the price & time to call. I later got called by a collection agency , they called me 24/7 for six months, so Id bet for $225 they'll call him for years.

I am probably late but I just picked up on the letter writing deal on Bruce. I'll do my part. I should of sued him myself. I was ignorant about my chances of really making a difference and I blew it. I just picked up the broken parts and built a new engine. I did tell everyone I knew to stay away!!!!!
Andy Mitchell took pity on me and gave me a rocking deal on a new engine so it was a little easier to move on.

not to beat a dead horse, but I measure everything my machinist does. If I find a discrepancy I bring it back to him and have him measure it with his tools to confirm. This has happened 3 times and 3 times more work was done to get it right. I check my mic's each time and calibrate my bore gauge to the mic I'm measuring the coresponding part with. The discrepancies were at different shops also, just so you know. I wasn't surprised or mad. Everyone has bad days. As long as it's where I want it when it's done I don't mind a trip back to the shop.

I had a set of heads done by Bruce. I also ordered a cam per his specs. Turned out different than I specifically asked for. I wanted wider lobe separation because I was going efi. Sent me his standard "secret recipe comp grind" which I think is a standard part # from comp.

Also took a while longer than promised, but that didn't bother me. What bothered me was the reciept I got.

It had a note chastizing me for drilling oil drains in the back of the head and leaving "a lot of filings" in the heads. Then his signature, and that was it. No total, no list of the parts I bought(close to a grand), no tax, no services rendered(cnc machined port work). I sent him a bare set of heads knowing he'd be replacing the valves, cleaned them up prior to sending them. Before that, they were in the car for 3 years. They were spotless when installed on the motor the first time, and cleaned before sent. Yet they had a lot of filings? No cleanup to the heads was done before shipping them back either. Combustion chambers still had carbon on them. That's being picky, and I wanted to assemble them myself anyway but wtf? Why do port work and seat drinding on dirty heads?
