Default 600 Cubic Inch Small Block

Did anyone see this article last July?

http://www.enginelabs.com/news/cfe-d...l-block-engine

4.6" bore spacing and 10.2" deck height Small Block Chevy

Spawned the discussion linked below on YB. I think I have seen similar threads here.

Basically says that NASCAR and the CFE people were not afraid to move the bore spacing, still call it a SB Chebby, and raise the deck height.

And yet the Milk Toast Boys say the P block MUST stay at 4.625 Bore Spacing or it isn't a P motor. Typical.

The other thing that I find interesting is that the article says is they can go 4.5" bore with the 4.6" bore spacing.

So let me get this straight CFE did NOT just simply make a shorter deck block and then tell everyone that's what they want, and tell everyone the benifits of a short deck blah blah blah

Those guys at CFE are freakin dang good,I get more and more impressed with there stuff everytime I look at it......I'm sure that 600" motor will put up a great # and be pretty reliable on the track.

if I read it right they are going with the 400 2.65" main with the big stroker. Something that needs to be addressed, reducing the main size, with the aftermarket Pontiac blocks.

Can any aftermarket block ( technology and cost wise) have a 2" main cast and then let the buyer machine the preferred diameter?

I believe that Lynn McCarty has done that. There was a thread here and some questioned when he did that, if it was still a Pontiac.

Big inch "small block" Chevy's have been pretty common here for years now, typically low 500 CID but recent "Track Sport" Jetsprint engines have been 540 and now 570 CID. Engine weight is just 190kg. HP per kg is pretty good !!!

Runs a billet block but no specs on bore spacing
Results in 2g acceleration ans 5-8g cornering force in a small boat .

Always interested in any Brand X builds out of the square so to speak. Good to see long held limitations removed (no matter how much $$$$ it costs LOL)

I beleive we can learn alot from "looking over the fence"

Yes, Lynn participated in the project. But done that? You need to recalculate your program...... error, error, as the robot says.
