Default LPI oil pumps

Got to pull pan for stuck(?)relief valve and will go with a new pump. Most likely the LPI pump from Luhn. My question is to go with a 60or80 psi pump? Only want to do once. I spin motor to 8 k at times.
Any thoughts ?

Oil flow where its needed is more important than psi it flows at. Oils that are thinner at operating temps and with right clearances in motor may give you less psi with same pressure relief spring but greater flow. Run the 80 and watch distibutor gear for wear. Use a new pump rod marked in a way you can inspect for twist. Luhn pump/pickup looks best for in pan pump/pickup. Best option, IMO is dry sump.

Ask Mark which of his pumps he'd use?

What's the difference between an LPI pump and a factory style pump? Is it like a Titan?

I would go with Mike Leech's recommendation. Mark worked with Mike on what Mike wanted. The Luhn Oil Pump System worked very well at 8000+ rpm according to several people.

You also are a east coaster guy so a call to Richie Hoffman would be a suggestion. People with the capability to very accurately track the oil pressure on the dyno, (like Richie Hoffman) say that the Luhn Pump oil pressure remains basically at the exact same pressure thruout the entire pull ROCK STEADY even at high rpm.

If he wants a Luhn pump, I'd still take Luhn's recommendation.

I did talk to Mark to get scoop on his pump. I just wanted some user inputs...especial from Pontiac's.. Big supply side should mean no cavitation..+ big suction pick up..
He also says he has a improved relief valve and at 60 psi there is less action at relief valve...
I do have Richie's number..Is he a distributor?
Thanks gentlemen.....Ahem..

I mentioned Richie because he was one of the first to use the Luhn Pump.

I have two of the Luhn Pumps myself, How many do you have John?

The Mods Mark makes to the pump are all well thought out before hand which is why they work well. Also Mark built a Oil Pump flow stand to do some of the new "improved relief valve" design work he was investigating.

I am using the Luhn pump, installed by Richie Hoffman.

Pressure remains at 50-53 the whole way down the track. Traps at 7800.

I always ran an 80 pound pump. Spoke to Mark before I bought his pump and he set it up with a 70 pound spring. Great pump and the most stable pressure I've ever had.
Will be getting another for the spare motor.

I'll second that.
I emailed them yesterday saying that I wanted to buy one of their pumps. Received a response right away asking for my shipping address. After I sent that, I got a email within two hours saying the pump had shipped, along with a fedex tracking number.
A invoice and a SASE was also sent with the package, to send the payment.
This has to be the first time that I have ever bought and received something online without paying for it first. Awesome company.

Oh, they also sent a hat, a pen , and some LPI stickers
